New Packaging? Better Sound?
does anyone have the Creative Ep-630s with the new packaging?
http://www.all-net.com.pl/jacza/ep63...i/image005.jpg
i have them and i can say that they are incredible. Just like the KSC75s but more bass and less shrill treble! I've also had the recabled K81s from cantsleep and the ep-630s sound exactly the same, with just the right amount of bass!
Incredible sound!
edit: now with spending more time with the eps and massively tweaking the custom eq, it seems that that the k81s are a tad bit less canned sounding(less mids) and have slightly a bit more sparkle in the cymbals - but just ever so slightly. The point that i got crazy over the eps is because I just cant seem to justify paying $90 for recabled k81s when these are quite similar through my novice ears.
And i didnt mean to knock the whole universe upside down, if you thought the intent was to do.

Do they sound relatively open sounding? Where did you purchase them?

Do you mean there are new ones that sound better than the old ones? You had old ones to compare to these??

ive been listening to them more now and the difference between the treble of the ksc75s and the ep630s are that Cymbals on the 75s wuld sound more like "tsss" and the 630s would sound like"Sss", if you can hear it visually...
I mine at ncix.com. I do not have the old ones and i was wondering if the new ones were any different, because these new/old version actually suit my needs. I can call my self pretty picky as well...
I'm not an audiophile by any way, im just an enthusiast looking for satisfaction; just to let everyone know.

yah this is tricky, you have to search for ep-630 NOT ep630. It should say that they have ~17 in stock and 4000 in order..
I think this is as much as sound quality will go for headphones under $50.
And the lack of portability hinders most full sized HPs, where i only listen to music on the go.

you misunderstand, I had paid and ordered them but two weeks later they told me they couldn't get them and gave me my money back.
I have to say though that for under $50 I prefer the JVC marshmallows with shure e2c foamies to the creatives...

Hi!
Yesterday i bought Creative EP-630, got it in the new package and to my ears, they sound virtually the same like Sennheiser CX-300 I used to compare them to. Small differences were in the better bass on the CX-300 - they had more than 100 hours on them, the bass went lower and was tiny bit cleaner , difference was really minimal, and more separated, better defined, maybe too crystal-clear treble in EP-630, by direct comparison to Sennheiser. But IMHO, the difference is only very small, I think more thanks to the date-of-manufacture of the batch, than different acoustic drivers or properties. (BTW, the new package of EP-630 says 9mm drivers, same size like the CX-300)
Anyone else got the new ones from Creative??

you could also try burning them in with pink noise. i found that after i burnt them in, i had to rest them (not play music through them) for a day before the bass was back to the normal impact.
and also the real killer is the price difference esp. here in canada
