Need some help.
I got some px100's a while back and while I loved how they sounded, I could not stand the earpads and the overall style of them. I returned them and i'm looking to get some new sennheisers but i'm not sure which would be the best for me. I prefer full sized headphones and I've been wanting to get the sennheiser hd212 pro but apparently (according to some people) it sounds muddy and there is too much bass.
I love bass but I don't want it muffling everything else, I need some durable headphones that would be good for Djing and carrying around everywhere. Besides the hd212 pro, I have been looking at the hd205, hd280 and the sony mdr-v700/v500. I mostly listen to electronic music, daft punk, pendulum, chemical brothers, the prodigy etc. I have 85$ and a 50$ circuit city gift card. portability isn't a factor i just want them to sound good.
The hd280 i can get at circuit city so it is within my price range but according to headroom's frequency response graph, the hd280 doesn't look like it has near enough bass for me and it also has the cracking headband problem so i'm not sure if I would want to take it around if the headband isn't very strong.
The hd 205 looks nice but it doesn't have the replaceable parts like the hd212 pro and i'm confused as to whether it's a supra-aural or circumaural headphone as i have heard people say both.
My girlfriend let me try out her hd202's and I thought they sounded alright. I really liked the style and they were very comfortable so if the hd212 pro is an upgraded version of the 202 then i would probably like it but then again, i'm not sure.
I saw some sony mdr-v500's at my local circuit city and they looked pretty nice, don't know about them though. I need some advice guy's, out of the headphones mentioned which would you recommend and why would you recommend it over the others? Thank you for your time!

The best answer is to find a store that will let you audition them, or buy where you can return easily.

If you have to buy from Circuit City, I suggest listing their headphones here that you are most interested in. If not listing them here, I suggest buying the HD212 if priced under $60.
If I had gift certificates, I would buy something or things that were on sale that I could sell on eBay for about the face value of the certificates. Then I would buy better headphones online with my increased buying power.

Well, the headphones at circuit city i'm interested in would be the hd280 pro(online only), bose around ear headphones and the mdr v500's. they are supposed to be getting the hd205 soon(online). i doubt the bose headphones would be any good for djing though so i'm not sure about those.

If you need headphones for DJing, then I suggest buying DJ headphones and not the Sennheisers. If the MDR V500 are the only DJ headphones you're open to buying, then there you go. If you're open to buying other DJ headphones, then I suggest making that known.

I need headphones that I can use mainly for my mp3 player but also for djing. sorry, I should have been a bit more specific. The mdr-v500's are the only dj headphones at circuit city but I found I could get the v700's for about 20$ more online so I don't think those are being considered anymore. I was thinking the hd212 pro or hd205 would be suitable for mp3/ djing needs and prehaps the hd280. Hmm, I guess basically i'm trying to see which is better out of the hd205 and hd 212 pro. I'm worried the hd280 won't have enough bass, so i'm not sure about it.

You should not consider the HD280, because it won't have enough bass. Based on reading this thread, I suggest going with the HD205 if choosing between the HD205 and HD212.
