Default Modding the HD485s

Hi,
My friend (yo, Pete! ) is interested in modifying his Senn HD485. Are there any well-known mods for these cans?
Also, is there any particular re-cable combination that would work well?

Thanks,
Josh

Based on the grado mesh mods I tried removing the cloth on the exterior. While I think it opened up a little I don't think it was a significant improvement, unlike the the grados which becomes totally unlistenable when covered. Never tried a recable though. I would expect it to be pretty easy since the cord is detachable. The only thing you need to worry about is the mini going into the cans which has a smaller outer casing than most minis.

you can put the HD215 cushions, which are much more comfortable, on the 485. they are a leatherette and much softer. The HD215 cable will also fit, but its coiled. the hd465 pads probably fit as well although i've never tried...they are supra so they might be a little bit warmer.

I too would like to know what kind of cabling is recommended.

TIA everyone.

I love my 485's and am attempting to not get wooed into 'the next step'.

They are great because they really don't require additional amplification.
