Default Lubrication question.

Being that a little lube always helps insertion (Etymotic sez so!) what does everybody use to insert their IEMs? When I try do stick it in dry (my ER6i's) it hurts and the experience is not very satisfying.

This is actually a real question....but I couldn't resist.

.........

I didn't think this post would be about IEMs, given the title......

With clean hands and fingers, just squezing the silicone-tips between the fingers a little usually greases the tips enough to ease insertion (it does heat and soften the material a bit, so this may also be why the insertion is easier!).
But if you need more than this to make insertion more comfortable, lubricating the tips with OTOEase from Westone is a big help.
This is a grease-free lubricant for hearing aids and earmolds, I use it when inserting the UE10's, cannot do without it!

I just insert mine the hard way Guess my ears are much less sensitive than before due to extensive use of IEMs, but I basically had no problem with insertion to start with.

You can just try water, sometimes making it wet will help alot.

Yeah....making it wet always helps. I'm just a little worried about getting water near my precioussssss.
Clinically: My ear canals are really small (and at 6'5" and 227, I'm somewhat sensative about size...). I bailed on Shure because even their smallest tips were brutally painful. The ER6is are much better but still not great.

Lol, I would worry about it too, but by wetting the tips I meant wet your fingers and then just touch the tips to get them moisturized. No worries this way

I've never used any lube. Just have a little foreplay first . Just kidding. No really, with SF5Ps or UE-10s I never found lube necessary. Just my personal preference. Some people like to lick it before they stick it

This thread is not what I thought it would be about....

No lubrication here. Naked is the way to go!

Seriously, I only use foamies so there is no need. Plus it'd just make a mess. Even then I have no problems with sleeves
