Well another credit to Kramer for this superb mod.

Just did it on my 24hours old Porta Pro. All I can say is that it really turn the can into something else trully enjoyable to listen to. Still warm but precise, Mids no longer masked as before. Oh the bass punch is even tighter - heavenly.

Oh ya, I am using Plantronics holed pads, beefier than the stock Porta Pro pads and the bonus is that I don't have to cut a hole - it's already there hahahaha.

I'll post pics tommorow for those interested.

Theres some real frequency separation now that was not present before. Cymbal crashes are more separate from upper midrange guitars and keyboards. Kick drum bass seems to be more "airy"... has more depth to it, as opposed to a solid "thud". The "thud" is still there, but theres a sense of air around theat fundamental note.

Koss has a real winner here. Its my humble oppinion that EVERY head-fi member should own these or at least demo them and give them a shot. For $15... man... I cant think of a better bargain in the entire audio industry... guitar audio, car audio, home theater... you name it... the KSC75 is a real gem!! and a SUPERB value.

Hope some of you find this useful... remember "buy low - mod high"!!

I TOTALLY agree with you, these headphones are really something and when modded they are just plain incredible. The fact that they are so cheap just blows me away. When I first got them, I started to listen to my SR-80s less and less because I was just astounded by how good they made the music sound and they had something missing from the SR-80, BASS!!

So here's another vote for arguably the BEST bang-for-buck headphones, and a great start into the world of Head-Fi.

I find the SR-80's have adequate bass, I actually prefer the Grado bass over the Koss'. Thats why I sold mine.

I'd rather get it from amazon though, as it is a dollar cheaper and doesn't have the volume control

amazon doesnt seem to have the free shipping anymore.

cheapest is from eek electronics, but you gotta pay like 5 bucks and change for the shipping.

Radio shack sale came at a great time; i planned to get another pair soon.

You can now get them for $12.50 (USD) at radioshack here

It's the in-line volume control version though

I just did this mod. I'm just a newbie, and a drill-less newbie at that (used an awl + knife), but to me the most obvious difference is the the highs don't seem as high anymore. This helps with hearing the other parts of music too. Thanks for the pictures and guide too.

Just to add:

I don't use Drill and dremel because I don't have them.

But the following will do:
- Sharp pointed knife (very pointy)
- Medium sized phillips head screwdriver

* Firstly the knife is used to create reference holes - just to make sure they are all centered poperly.

Then use the screwdriver and patiently grind the holes in one circular motion until they are big enough. The result would be lovely because the holes will remain completely round

Finally use the knife again to trim of excess from the hole edges - very carefully. Dedicate 1 hour on doing this and you will love the result.

Cheers again to Kramer!

just did this mod on my week old ksc75.

last night i listened to Rage Against The Machine - Bombtrack on my ipod, the highs and mids sounded very muddy, almost non-existant.

after the mod it was like listening to a different pair of cans, the highs and mids were both very pronounced, it was an amazing difference. and its only going to get better as they burn-in
