Is it just me or does the hd650 sound very similar to cx300? Amused.
Of course hd650 sounds much better in many aspects but the sound signature, as well as how some instruments/vocals sound for these two are surprisingly similar to me.
Anyone ever thought of the same thing? Or maybe its just me.
CX300 is arguably one of the worst earphones I've ever had the displeasure of owning. It has not one single redeeming characteristic. The HD650 has flaws abound but its not that bad. Are you running them both out of an iPod?
the booming/abundance of bass on both made me think this way i think.
Electric guitars sound kinda similar too (tho better on the 650)
Similar as in not similar SQ wise, but sound signature/balance wise.

If you mean that they're both fudgy and bloaty in the bass (the HD650 being the worst for this when its amped by anything less than a very hefty piece of kit) except that for the price difference the HD650 doesn't sound like having your ears filled with Ready-Brek then I suppose I might broadly concur.

I have been very disappointed by the CX300 and I don't llike very much my HD650 so may be you're right....
sure, any headphones can have similar sound signatures, but as you state, the sound quality is the difference.
was just a thought from my first impressions of hd650. I'm starting to think that they're a little less similar now tho after listening to it abit more. Their sound signature is surprisingly similar tho... in terms of sound balance especially. No real "point" to this threat, just somewhat amused by that, and wondering if people ever thought of the same thing. (eg hd600 and hd595 didnt sound similar to cx300 at all, but their flagship model actually has a sound signature/balance similar to cx300?)

Looks like this time to find a better amp. Or do opamp switching. Or sell the hd650s.
Any idea how much exactly does burn in change them?
