iCans
Anyone heard/heard about the new iCans being made by Ultrasone yet? They have a retail price of about $150 US as I understand it, but I haven't been able to trace down any independant reviews yet. Any head-fiers given them a listen?
www.icans.com.au - pretty nifty site, and the cans look cool too.

I ordered a pair yesterday off Snufkin, so I'll let you know what I think when they arrive too. I can only compare them to the Ety ER-4P and Beyer DT531, but I'll give it a crack

I received my iCans today!! They come in a little box and inside there is a tin can with the iCans folded in a foam insert.
My first impresion as soon as I opened the can was not very good. They are very light and look a little bit cheap (too much plastic). The worse thing to me was the cord. It is very very thin and flimsy.
Those were all the bad news.......
Now to the sound!! Even just out of the box (tin can should say) they sound excellent. Probably one of the best in this size and price range I have heard.
They are semi open. There is some isolation from external nosie but not like closed headphones (like the HD-25) and they have significant bleeding of sound to the outside.
The highs are very smooth and well defined. Mid range is clean and clear and the bass is the best I have heard in this size of headphones.
One thing that really impressed me is it's openess. The sound is big. You don't feel your are listening to a pair of headphones (in a constrain space like many other headphones).
IMO they are a very good sounding headphones for "on the go". I am ordering a second pair for my wife so we both can enjoy my ipod and Maxi Moy amp when we travel.
Hope this help.

I'd review them for you guys, but then again, I'm biased
I agree with the statements said above tho...thats exactly how I would describe them. For a small headphone, they have a very open sound, and are quite clear. I find the mid's particularly nice, especially when listening to vocals. And the bass is quite nice for a small headphone.
The cord is pretty much the same as any earbuds or other commercial style headphones, but what I like about it is that its the perfect length (115cm)...not too long so it droops down to your ankles!
Anyway, if you guys have any more questions about the iCans, I'd be happy to help!

If I'm lying in bed on my back on a pillow, will they stay on my ears? Will the wife be able to hear them if I'm listening at a moderately low volume? Thanks.
