Default HF2 or MS-Pro?

I am interested if there isn't someone who had a chance try or compare both at the same time. What is better according to you and why?

Thanks for opinions

Knowing the SR225, SR325, PS1 & HF1 and assuming the HF2 is just another typical Grado, I'd say that decision depends from listening habits and favourite genres, maybe even age.

If your like it thrilling & engaging and if you prefer "popular" genres, take the Grado. If you are a bit more "mature" and also do have your jazz or chambermusic moods, you'll adore the MS Pro.

I owned a MS Pro, then bought a RS-1 - so had both at the same time (also had & sold 325i, and RS-2 before them). Sold the MS Pro because I basically preferred the RS-1 treble extension over the MS Pro treble roll-off. Today, I finally received my HF-2. Though they're not burned-in, and I have not had the opportunity to experiment with them...........they're clearly keepers over MS Pro IMO. So, to me. the more useful comparison would be to pit the HF-2 vs the RS-1, or maybe simply retain both of them - that seems a likely prospect for me. Mine (HF-2) have been working for 4 hours at the time of this writing. I can volunteer to say that at $429 and their SQ - you definitely won't be screwing up. Oh, and they'll give you a bit more bass than the MS Pro ever will (if you want some real depth [deep, not basshead bass], I can also suggest using a K.I.C.A.S Caliente with them).

The Grados are more aggressive and the MS-Pro's are more laid back. If you listen to rock, metal, indi, techno, the Grados are right for you. If you prefer jazz or classical, more "mature...." music, then the MSPros are the ones for you. State what genres you listen to.

It's a play on the common quoted phrase..."nature vs nurture" as is used in criminology. You are either born 'bad' (nature), or it was created over time by your environment and upbringing (nurture).

Can it be something like this?

MS-PRO:
Plays music as it is supposed to be. Soundstage is like watching a performance, with the band on the scene and you standing and watching. May sound boring and laid-back because there is nothing that's sticking out. (Like listening to a normal stereo in a bad or good room. In the bad room, the music can sound more dynamic and living, while in the good room it can sound "dead" because nothing stand out. Everything is there, but nothing stands out.)

HF-2:
May color the sound and make it sound bigger and better than it's actually is. Add a little dump in the bass and it will sound more dynamic and musical. The soundstage will be more like you are standing on stage with the band, rather than watching the band.
Tweaking the frequency response will make some things come forward and making some going back a little. Like a painting, if the paining is black and white you will notice all the details easier than if the painting had some red and yellow details.

That is how I think they sound after reading some on this forum. Everybody is looking for different things. I'm looking for a solid sound, some other are looking for a musical sound.

Reading various posts without actually having listened to the headphones equals bupkus or bunkum, if you wish.
