Meh, I'd recommend amp with HD595 seeing how some amps can turn it into a different animal.

you should also add the goldring DR150. they can usually be found from about $120-$150

W5000 - Woody headphone which is known for its troublesome fit and being picky about amplification. If used successfully - very worth the trouble.

I'd add this link to every Ultrasone description and would not bother saying anything else: There's Something About Ultrasone…

What would you recommend me for competitive gaming headphones under $400 without using an amp on a Auzentech X-Fi Prelude?

Click on the link then copy paste the URL. Head-fi automatically formats the links into page titles.

Either DT770 or Proline 2500, it depends on which works better with your ears.
