HD280 Pro Replacement: DT770/80 or Pro 750 (Old Style)|Update - Proline 750 Recable?
I'm debating one which one to pick, also been a long time lurker. Interested in reading why you would pick one. I'll be using them mainly for gaming, and maybe the occasional bit of music.

I moved from the HD 280 to DT770. Just a better all round headphone with better detail, bass as advertised and soundstage. Great for gaming as well. Explosions sound amazing! Prices are reasonable now as well. New for about $145 on Ebay.

Thank you for the reply. How long have you had the DT770s?

I have had them for about 2 months now. The urge to upgrade hasn't hit me yet but even if it does I believe I will keep them instead of selling them for $$ towards the purchase. I would like to hear how a good open headphone sounds in comparison.

I finally made my decision, went w/ the Ultrasone Proline 750. Purchased them from Northern Sound & Light for $215.00 plus shipping. Should have them Monday.

good choice, they're definitely in a whole different class compared to the other 2 headphones you mentioned.
btw that's a good price for the prolines.

Now after having these for awhile I have to say I am quite satisfied w/ my purchase. It's great to switch back & fourth between these is my K701s. Nice having some bass that isn't too flabby but quite detailed enough for my tastes. However, they do require a degree of burn-in especially for the the highs which were almost too extended for me for long periods of listening. The only real problem I have w/ them these two items:
1. Having a shaved head worrying about keeping the top of the headband clean. Which isn't that big of a deal before I use them I make sure to use some rubbing alcohol on the noggin to solve that problem.
2. The biggest issue is how I some times slouch when I listen to cans. I would like to find a replacement cable that doesn't touch my shoulder. If I sit w/ proper posture it's not an issue. However, while listening to some really good music or browsing the web I like to relax some times. I would like to not spend too much money a re-cable for these if possible (if I'm going to spend some serious cash on a re-cable it will be my K701's).
