As of 31/03/2008, the K701 has discontinued manufacture and distribution, pending release of the K702. If you still wish to order the K701, please let us know and we will place a special order, pending availability.
Even more promising is the rumor of the new AKG K702, intended to replace the fantastic K701. While there has been no concrete news as yet, the K701 has now ceased production, and as a consequence of units becoming harder to get, we have stopped ordering from our US distributor. I believe the lack of an official announcement is due to AKG wishing to sell the little stock that remains of the K701 before the K702 is released, to avoid a desperate underpriced clearance of the remainders.
Yeah the price could gets miles lower for the UK. A lot of online stores give them for £250-£300, though if you look for good deals you can find around £180-£200.

These are not new posts. These are the original Aussie posts that helped to get this thread going. So no new news. Exciting, but I hope we aren't just spinning our wheels. Oh, I guess it's fun thinking there could be another Christmas in May or June!
