Yes, because everyone has $700 to blow on headphones.

I got my grados at Christmas (whatever year is in my sig) and I've loved them ever since. The parts for my RA-1 clone come tommorow, that should help a bit. The only problem, after beating the crap out of them for a year as my portables, both the earpeices have seperated from the metal rod.
Of course, since I just found out I might be able to get some stuff milled for me, I may just work up a sweet all metal holder for the ear peices

And even less if you buy used! Problem is, not many people seem to want to part with them.

The pads on Grados make all the difference in the world. The bowl pads your SR80 came with have a huge effect on the brightness/bass levels. Consider the flats if you want increased bass and less bright highs.

The pads will make or break grado headphones for users. The bowls are bright but don't have enough bass impact, flats lessen the highs but give the impression of more bass impact, but they seem to lessen detail. So ATM I am trying reverse bowl pads. Just trying to find the sweet spot.

Twenty-five dollars and Grado Labs will repair my SR-60s. I only have to ship the cans to them with a money order.

Nice giraffe... Maybe I should use a horse's arse as my avatar? Nah, I'll let someone else beat me to the puch on that one.
$25 seems kinda steep for my problem- the plug has a semi-intermittent connection where the line starts from the plug on my SR60's, but I KNOW Grado could fix that once and for all if they used right angled plugs on their catalog of cans. Maybe I should wait until something really bad happens to my cans to justify sending them in?

Probably just a loose wire. Any DIYer who has experience with cables (Edwood, Xaanadu777, Tiberian, ayt999 etc. can look into it for you).

where to buy a pair?
well, all the talk has convinced me to get a pair... but the Grado website is shockingly deficient on who its resellers are. Anyone know where to get a pair in Germany, or online anywhere in Europe?

how to do the coin mod
I have a question. What's the best way to do the coin mod?
I have an exacto knife. Should I just put the pad over cardboard, trace the cut along the edges of a quarter or do you guys have a cleaner way?
Thanks...

Do all the cutting from the reverse side so that you dont accidentally cut the "FOLD" that holds the pads to the driver housing. Place the quarter dead center, press down firmly and then cut around it.
