Guru, I am in the same mood in these days... I've bought a pretty cheapy Akg K141S, and for some unknown reason they are always in my head and the HD650 remain in their box... after a while I asked myself... WHY?!?!?!?

The K141S is totally inferior to the HD650, from an audiophile point of view... but with the K141 I feel more the music! While with the Senns I get distracted far from the true core of the music emotion. I wish I still have my Grado Sr-60...

Bye
Andrea

PS. also my HD650 will probably find a new master...

I agree. I really really need to hear a pair to see what the whole thing is about

gsferrari: How come you decided to keep the SR-60s as opposed to the higher end Grados that you used to have? For example, surely an SR-225 takes what the SR-60 does and does it better, no?

I also went through a similar experience.
First with the PX100. Currently, with th HD595.

But No, nothing will persuade me to part with the HD650.
Sometimes that is the only true goddess of Emotion.

(Good luck with the Sony SA5000 !)

A tribute to SR60's? Hell yeah! That's more like it! Jack Johnson's "On and On" is on my digital line out from the Creative Playcenter n my PC right now, and sounds freaking incredilble with the RS pads. Something about that combination is just -euphoric-. Can't wait to get my JMT Cmoy up and running with that Cardas interconnect. Ohhhh crap, that is gonna be an experience!
Someone needs to make an SR60 smiley!

How does the SR-80 compare to the 60? I want a fun headphone minus the shrill highs

I was wondering the same thing. For a newcomer sr60 would make sense as at $200 the 225 have quite a number of competition - while at $70 there's almost none that can hold candle to sr60. But once one owned and loved 225 isn't it a rough n tough way back to sr60 ??

I think the shrill highs will still be yours until the sr125-225 mark. My 80 have them, in spades, but that can be tamed with thinner pads like 414 or RS pads.

Another big SR-60's fan here. This pic shows what big fans can do for these cans:

That's Guru holding my SR-60's, I'm the photographer. This was a first Head-fi meet for both of us couple of years ago. We had to drive through SR-60 Hwy on the way to Clearwater FL where the meet was taking place, hence the pic.

I'm very glad to have taken my SR-60's to that meet. Guru you are following Matt's path going back to SR60's appreciation, even after experiencing electrostats sound! That speaks quite well of the SR60's indeed.

Same here, so i bought some 225's. I dont think i've taken them off for 3 days straight. I got them used with 100-200 hours burnin, so as soon as i put them on i was quite impessed. Well, not right away, i was used to my senn's, but after about 30 seconds i realized there was a lot more to appreciate with the Grado's.

For the money I think the SR60s are a great deal,I still have the pair I bought when they first came out. They origionally came with smaller flat pads then the HP series phones on them. I ended putting yellow senn pads on them years ago,but I still have the flats.
