Default Gaming Headset

I'm a big gamer, i play CS Source very seriously. I need a VERY nice pair of headphones or a headset, i donno what to get, i'm thinking of gettin the HD555
or maybe something else i donno, i dont really wanna break the bank, and i dont know if i need a sound card or not.

Could you give me some insight on what to get??

(im a headset newb)

the audio technica A900 seems to be a very recommended gaming headphone on this forum.

also, would u need a mic? the A900 doesnt come with mic though.

soundcard... id recommend it over the onboard sound obviously. mebbe a used A2ZS or one of the X-Fis

For games (per se) an Audigy2 or better can be had for something like $39.
Yes, a pair of Audio Technica A900, or better would be Beyer dt770/80 with amp., or best is Darth modded Beyer dt770/80. The A900 are NOT significantly improved by amping, whereas the dt770/80 do improve. Best of all is dt770/80 with Headphile darth mod. with amp. as it is also v. good for music.
