Fake Mylarone X3!!!
Hey guys I've been browsing ebay this morning when i stumbled on to this little "gem" if you will.
http://cgi.ebay.com/IEP-20-In-Ear-Ea...QQcmdZViewItem
from what i can see it is an imitation mylarone X3! (they even come from Singapore)
this is the first i have seen. so this means one thing only, buyers must now beware of fakes. keep an eye out for some "real" fakes, these dont pretend to be x3 but sure look like them. maybe a X3 owner with a few bucks knocking around could buy them and review the differences!
PS i dont know why but fakes and imitations fascinate me!!

Fairly uninteresting, since there is fakes of pretty much every single low end IEM/earphone on ebay. :P

I don't see how they are fake since they don't claim to be the X3's, like you said.
And IIRC the X3's are based on another older model that look the same, this could even be them, who knows.

your right tk3 they are not "true" fakes but imitations or the X3s could be descended from them like you said.

They're not fake at all.. It's a generic design isn't it?

its a standart OVC design from what i know,
based on the TC20, they can also be bought under the name "soundwise" in some places,
the mylarone X1, X2, X3 and XB are all costum designes based on OVC headphones,

Yup. It's just a standard OVC. Just like the Vmoda Vibe and OVC T25 they are all manufactured by Ocvaco in China. They also manufacture for Denon, Sony, Panasonic, AT, Pioneer, etc.
As Chinese manufacturers go they are highly regarded.

ive actually seen those for sale on ebay. if i were into Shure's i might have even bought them. what amazes me about the whole counterfeit industry is how they are able to get away with it. if i were sennheiser i would close shop in china and move it somewhere else where they can control it better. or at the very least put a fancy counterfeit proof hologram on the package so that you know its a real package like Microsoft does.

actually, sicne senshaiser had to change the packaging on the CX300 several times, the price in europe has gone up from 35 euros to 47 euros, but also might have been due to the rise in popularity of canalphones,
personaly, if you want to take senshaiser production out of china, prepare for $120 CX300 and $150 PX100´s

Bringing this back up. Just wondering if anyone has ordered one. I'm real tempted to grab one of these and try them out. They are identical to the ones shown in this thread:
Any way to fix a loose ZIF hard drive connector?
right? Just without the OVC branding. For less than $15 shipped, I don't think I have much to lose.

Um, from what I understand OVC developed these themselves and presumably did the tweaks as OEM for Crossroads, all the while selling these as the T20 under the OVC nameplate, so it seems you're insulting the actual company that designed and produced these to defend a brand that licensed them to sell them to people like you at a much higher price.

The headphones listed here are not counterfeit, as was already pointed out in this thread. Sennheiser has its headphones made in China because it's far, far cheaper than doing it anywhere else, and in the case of the CX300 it is also a product designed and sold by the Chinese branch of a Japanese company first, which is how nearly the same product could also be licensed to and built for Creative, Sharp, and AKG.

copying design frfom one manufacturer to another is nothing new,

http://images.google.com/images?clie...=1&sa=N&tab=wi
as far as i can see, they're not being advertised as the real thing.

I have OVC t25 ( "fake vibez") and their sound is quite good to me...a little muddy but very pleasing and sometimes very good when listening to brass instruments.
EDIT: they are better than my previous JBL 220Ref.
