Default Etymotic ER4S with braided wires: do they exist?

I'm very curious. I have seen many ER4P with braided wires, but never an ER4S (which uses flat wires). What's the reason for such difference?

Newer versions have the braided wires, older models had the "flat" wire.
Nothing to do with being a P or S.

Great. Another thing I find curious is that the ER4P can be found in black, while the ER4S are only found in red&blue. Is this right?

No.
The all back ones are the newest version.
The red/blue ones are older.
I've had both.

Personally I wish they would go back to the red/blue or something more visible. I can't easily see which is L&R on mine with the all black. Had to put a drop of red nail polish on the R channels so I could.

Anyone know if the black ones are still made in USA?

Thanks!
