Smile ETY4 foam tip update

My earlier post " flange vs. foam" outlined the better high end response I was getting with the foam tips.
I just received the larger foam tips from etym. and the difference in the high frequency clarity is outstanding; almost a magnitude greater.I won't go into detail at this time but just suffice it to say that I hear small things in my cd's that weren't there before ; like the guy at the back of the orchestra with that little triangle perfectly audible amid the crescendos.
When I feel more qualified maybe a full review can be done.
what next ? earmolds? dedicated amp? the house is paid for hmmmm.2nd mortgage?
Although the large foamies are a bit too big for my ears I can still manage to get a good seal.
Has anyone out there noticed a difference with earmolds besides convenience?

I have the grey foam tips with the Ety's that I just got last week. Are these the "new larger ones" to which you are referring? Also, are the foam tips installed onto the Ety's with the protuberant plastic end pointed towards the driver? It seems to be the logical way to me, but I can't find any specific reference to it. BTW, do you find the bass to be fuller with the foamies vs the flange? The seal is good with both for me, so that doesn't seem to be an issue.

Thanks

Default larger foam tips

The grey tips are standard issue with the er4's. The larger ones are yellow and can be ordered from Etymotic.com. at 10.00 for 4 pair.
They are twice the size of the grey; really too big for my ears without a little hassle fitting them in. But I cant understand why the highs are more prominent;not "edgy" just more articulate.
The protuberant end goes toward the driver.
The bass is the same with both flange or foam assuming you have a good seal. The isolation is better with the flange but in my ears they affect the balance between mid & high;and if you insert the flanges too deeply the sound is constricted -no midrange.I must have odd ears but I know good sound when I hear it and ETY is a divine revelation in audio; just wish my maggies sounded as good.
How do they compare to your senn HD 600?

Yes the plastic tube that sticks out goes towards the driver.
