Tut tut, my dear Wualta. You should have practiced reticence, but now you're going to have to give us a full and in depth review.
Right then. Coming to a separate thread near you. Meanwhile, Duggeh, see if you can't snag one cheap; shake out a bit of that Caledonian eBay magic from your sporrin. Preliminary results here at The Lab lead me to expect good results with the Ergo filter box (for that's what it truly be) and the AMTs. Have a good separate EQ unit waiting in the wings.
Yes, I cut off that damnable stupid 6 pronged monstrosity.
The AMT is now connected directly to the T-amp. The sound seems slightly cleaner now, theres sort of less of a smear to things than there was with the magicbox. Theres also the added portability bonus.
Just add iPod and strut your stuff.
Using a small bass boost at 82Hz now too. Improves tactility without causing unwanted resonant noise.
Well, at least the rash doesn't show. Just don't do any more rash stuff.
Just add iPod and strut your stuff.
Indeed! I like your style.

82Hz? Why not throw caution to the wind and plumb the depths of 81? Seriously, why'd you pick 82 for the boost, what piece of gear is doing it, and what resonant noise are you referring to?
I went back to the Amp 1 today after using the T-amp since I got it. Good lord, where did all this bass come from?! I dont remember it goign missing in the first place, a little detail lost too, but its nice to have a refreshed sound signiture from the same pair of headphones. I think that I may have changed my mind and prefer the Amp 1 sound. I think that Ill have to do some cable reterminating with 4 pin XLRs to make amp swapping faster and easier than it is now. Mmmm... soldering.

I had that wrong in my head, its an 82/100 boost level, for low low frequencies below 30hz. Run in the bass boost section of my soundcards setup menus. I change that setting from time to time anyway. Its never stayed at a fixed level for terribly long. Useful feature for low volume speaker listening too. The resonant noise turned out not to be due to the headphones as well :s
Out of the amp 1, yes, but it is hugely rolled off any lower than that. The main thing that the sub-bass boost does is almost psychoacoustic. It just gives the sound more bloom and energy, a warmth if you like. Theres no percievable increase in the impact or in the extension. I suppose it might be like preferring one interconnect to another, or liking little isolation blocks under your amp. I dont think of myself as a tweeker, but the way in which this low bass booster augments the sound really is a tweek. It isnt enough of a change to be anything else, but that said, I wouldnt want it turned off now, I change its parameters less and less each time I experiment with it.
And yes its all clean sounding. Its not difficult to make it dirty though, if the boost level is too high or if the cutoff frequency is too high. I would say that the AMT is an exceptionally clean sounding headphone in itself.
