Default dt880 compared to e4

Hi, quick question...
Would the shure e4 be comparable soundwise to dt880s? Or is it a huge difference?

Huge.. lol..

IMHO.. That is mid-high end headphones. The e4s are not that so there is a big difference from the e4s and the dt880. The bass.. The highs.. The resolution.. Across the board. UE-10s ($900) and DT880's that is a fair battle. If that gives you any idea.

Default Unfair battle

There's really no comparison between the two. The DT880 is a different animal; it has a rich, detailed lows, restrained mids, and sweet highs, and seems to work with any music, though it gets all that much better amped.

The E4 is respectable, but you have to pay about double to get anything close to the DT880's detail and balance in an IEM. Maybe it's best to have one set of headphones for home use and (if your budget allows) a good IEM for use on the road.

How would they be for gym use?

Too shhweaty for the gym, I'm guessing..

I bought some E-4's for my Ipod for the gym..

TOO accurate.. (strident highs), no bass to speak of..
