So being an owner of both cans. Am I crazy thinking the Dt770 sounds better?
Now I know the Denons need some burn time. But the Denons seem really lean and the 770s seem to rock much harder. The only thing I like better on the Denons is the Highs. My ears are hearing the same mid suck out on both cans.
And for everyone saying the Denons has massive tight bass. NOT!!!
The Dt770s on the other hand...Hit's hard and deep. And before anyone says upgrade your source, amp ect!!!
I'm using NAD C524, Little Dot MKV, Tavagan's Red with Original Dcc gold and Mfsl titles( For reference).
Am I just crazy?? Even my D1000s are sounding better In the Bass anyway!! And I'm not a basshead. Maybe the D2000s aren't for me? I was totally amazed when I first got them. You think they are going thru a funky stage of burn in? Maybe 100 hours on them only!!!
My d2000's mids didn't come forward and sounded VERY distant until i had like 200 hours on them.
As for the bass, it really depends on the recording and what kinda music you're listening to. For rock, they're really good, but if the song is bass heavy to begin with? good luck!
When I auditioned the dt 770 at guitar center, the dt 770's bass and mids sounded a bit muddy to me. But then I only listened to it for like a few minutes, so i could be wrong.

You should give them at least 450-500 hours of burn in, and you'll be in heaven!

I was trying the display model at guitar center and the d770 there already looked pretty beat up, so I'm guessing that they're already well burned in.
Also, when I said muddy, I was only comparing it to what I had at the time which was my RE1. I did my testing using my mp3 player -> ibasso d2 boa -> headphone.
Which DT770 do you have?
Mine is 2005 consumer edition. Great headphone, but a little too bright and too much sibilance.
Just bought a D2000 from a fellow headfi-er. When it arrives, I'll compare them to decide which one I will be selling.
One of them has to go, that's for sure.

My posts are my opinions, please take and respect them as such, and I will do the same for yours. Everyones ears are different sizes and shapes, and we all perceieve sound and music in different ways. Other variables to consider inculde the type of music one prefers, the type of gear one owns, and the type of presentation one prefers in a set of headphones. As such it is up to *you* to use your own ears, gear and music to decide what ultimately sounds the best, since your opinion is really the only one that matters at the end of the day.
