Default Is the DT250 imbalance problem finally fixed ?

Hey guys,

there has been much talk about the L-R imbalance with BeyerDynamic's DT250 models. Has this been corrected by the company? Anyone knows for sure ?

When I tried out a used DT250-80 last week, the left side was definitely sounding different than the right side hence I didn't buy it.

I wonder if out-of-the-factory ones have this corrected.

Thanx a lot,
Philco

My pair is fine, bought it new about 8 months ago.

I'd never heard of a channel imbalance issue, though.

Ok, mine is 250-80ohm, so probably not an issue with mine.

One thread three and a half years ago is a lot of talk?

i bought my dt250-80 used and it doesn't have a channel imbalance.

maybe you should ask beyerdynamic how well matched the drivers are, and whether they consider imbalance to be a warranty issue.

having read the thread all the way through, the issue was in a plastic mold for the baffle.

It's easy to fix, and by extension, easy to increase the bassiness of a dt250.

What's more, beyer's instructions for their perception of how to repair the issue also implies that it should be very easy to increase the bass in a dt250 in an entirely reversible way, by applying layers of tape to the piece that sticks up too far in the left earcup of what beyer sees as the offending units. Instead of filing anything down on either side, you could just build up that bump on the right side.

edit: beyer's instructions for fixing the imbalance are here:

http://members.cox.net/rod_serling/H...0%20Baffle.pdf

This fixes the root cause of the imbalance and returns the left driver to it's designed level of bass.

and fwiw the serial number of my dt250-80 is 30413

Well mine is #26749, and I never noticed this problem. Ahh the DT250, after the thread I went back to listen to them, very nice headphones, arghh I dont know whether to sell them now....lol.

It seems the guy in the thread thinks the DT250-250 sound a lot like the HD650, does anyone know if the same applies to the DT250-80?

Thanks
