dt-250/80 amp - Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio

hi i have the dt-250/80, and i was wondering if a amp would be worth it? I tried my mates hd-555 and i think they sounded a bit more punchy, will the dt250 get more punchy with an amp?

and which portableamp for a reasonable price would be sounding great for the dt250

Welcome to Head-Fi. Sorry about your wallet! HA! I have a set of the 250-80 cans, also. They seem easy to drive. I have a porta corda II portable amp that does a nice job. Is the amp just for portable use? Do you use other headphones? Some things to consider.

i have a pair of etymotic 6i... would they benefit from a amp?.... would that make them handle bass better... i have noticed that if you run too powerfull bas on them, they crack/distort a little-...... anyone else noticed this?
