I'm a poor kid, I would never have the money for a comparable speaker system. I think I like headphones better anyways, it's like taking a lot of little vacations.

25 % speakers, 75% headphones.
My speaker rig/room is not on par with my headphone rigs, and I really like headphones, to me they are no cheap substitute.

I mostly listen to speakers but I find headphones more interesting.

I would say:

60% speakers
40% headphones

Mind you, this has only been the case since getting the M-Audio BX8's.

Before that it was:

90% headphones
10% speakers

I prefer speakers to headphones but spend more time with headphones. I would say on average I listen to headphones 75% of the time. Most of my listening is done at night when my family is around or sleeping so headphones are a necessity. I would have to say, without the above considerations, both speakers and headphones have their advantages and disadvantages. I believe with headphones, they force me to focus more on the music. Speakers do that as well but I am more likely to get up and do something else while listening to speakers than with headphones, for obvious reasons. I can listen to headphones for hours at a time as with speakers but speakers are far less fatiguing after long periods of listening.

That would depend on spl and listening position. In nearfield position they're just as fatiguing and you really have to watch spl.

When my parents leave, the headphones go off.

I listen about 10' from my speakers and fatigue has never been an issue. Don't get me wrong, I listen to headphones for anywhere from 1 to 3 hours and longer without problem. However, when I am done my ears feel it. It is not a problem it's just not the same with speakers.

MD1032, when my family leaves my speakers go on. My poor parents didn't have the luxury of headphones back when I had that concern. I was lucky in that I my older brothers had gotten them used to loud music that I was able to blast away much of time.

Right now 100% headphones. I recently sold off 2/3's of my loudspeaker system to upgrade my hp rig. I actually prefer the more natural sound of speakers, but my room is too small for proper set-up. If and when I get a bigger apt. I'll get some MMG's and a powerful tube amp to go with it, but headphones will always be in the mix for critical listening.

If I throw in the listening I do at work I would say it is a 50-50 split. During the past year at home I would estimate my split is 80-20 in favor of speakers.

I have the MMG's and for the money they give you a lot of sound. Just make sure your amp can drive 4 ohm speakers.
