Default diff between lower end grado's and higher end

Since I never heard the sr 325's (I've heard the 60's, 80's and 125's) I would like to know the difference between say the 325's and the 125's. Is the difference like MAJOR is like more like minor when played through a decent source. I cannot understand how a headphone can be drastically improved from the 125's or even the 80's. Is it worth the vast 150-200 increase in $$??

thanks in advance

It depends on what you're looking for. If you are happy with sr125s or sr80s go with them. There's a large difference between the sr60 I have and the sr325. The 325 has more bass, smoother highs... They just sound better! They have a more "full" sound. I don't know whether it's worth hundreds more - that's up to you. I reccomend hearing them first. Good luck.

having owned the SR80s, when I listened to the SR325, my response was, "it sounds just like the SR80s." I immediately put them down and forgot about them for the rest of the mini-meet.

but I am sure that there are differences. some would say that the high end is smoother. others would say that the mid range is smoother. others would say that the bass is not as bass bloated as the SR80s.

it's a signature sound. and you either love it, hate it, or live with it. it's very intimate due to their drivers being so close to your ear.

i suggest you attend a mini-meet or borrow one for awhile.

325 sounds like a 80 or 125 on steroids IMO.

Yeah, i can hear a big difference in soundstage, bass and overall "richness of sound" (I make it up as i go along), between my SR80s and SR325s. Love it or hate it, It's the Grado sound...only more of it!

Guess which camp I'm in?

SptsNaz,

it all comes down to what you can live with.
and what you can live without.

Get the 325s, then you'll never have to wonder.
