Thanks for the write-up.
This caught my eyes:

So my first impression was something like an L3000 blended with Senn.
|
Slightly forward and laid back at the same time?? It's quite a pretty headphone btw.

Seems like it's ~$1150. Very interested to see if people think it's highly overpriced.
Thanks for the preview.

Thank you, Sasaki!
More Senn-like may or may not be an improvement...........

Are the ear pads still synthetic, or do did they move up to real leather? (For that price, they could throw in an entire leather jacket.)

Did they fix the screw issue? If yes, I'm in.

The immediate impressions really make me cynical of this new headphone. I don't really understand why Denon would gear towards a darker presentation with more bass, when it has been reaffirmed time and time again that the bass on the D2/D5 is already excellent and plentiful enough for most. I agree with Gradofan on this.

I was originally planning on getting the D7000 as soon as they got out, but if they sound more Sennheiser-ish (which is what I want to get away from), then I guess I'll just get the D5000 instead.
BTW, what's this "screw issue" everyone's talking about?

I was wondering about that, but the price drop is unlikely. it is not a replacement, a higher end model. this may not be a good comparison, but as far as i am aware, none of the ultrasone's dropped in price when the ed.9 was released. Also, the denon's have been dropping in price over the last few months. prices have already decreased quite a lot.
