Default Creative ZEN Aurvana?

http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.proc...eed.CLN+MZ0270
anyone heard these? They look like they might not be a bad starter IEM at that price, but I don't know how they sound.

Don't Bother With the Aurvana's. No high frequencies at all above about 6-7 KHz

Hi!

I was interested in Aurvanas too! Could you give me more info where you found about the treble deficiences? A graphic chart would be nice, or have you heard them and tried sine sweeps?

Thanks
Moonwalker

You could put the same money into UM1 or ER6i and get a heck of a lot more detail and isolation.
The mids and highs weren't very remarkable, and the mid-/high-bass hump totally killed everything for me. It's using an armature driver, but housed in a canalphone casing (not as much isolation as true IEMs). Does not come with any ear wax protection/filter.

I don't mean to put this down, but it's evident Creative didn't do their homework here.

????

I dont know how you could say that the Zen: Aurvana's are bad because the mid- hi-lows ! ! !

I own the Aurvana's for some time now and i like them, altough they are not without their flaws. I'm still waiting for some free time so i can give an full covered review of them but i can make a short one here.
The Aurvana's have an really excellent amount of mid details, voices really sing and especially with female-vocals they show their best side, it has nice but a bit too gentle clean bass, it doesnt do an blooming OEMPFFF like the populair Senn's CX300 but the bass it there, i dont recommand them if you like hiphop or other musictypes wich rely on amounts of bass. The high end has indeed an roll-off, it makes the earphones less detailed then others and because of the lack of high's it hasnt got the soundstage of the ER-6. But it still sparkles when it has to and when i listened to some classical music (Beethoven's 9th) i was quite impressed, only the soundstage was a little to flat to make this a winner for classical music.

Comfort wise they are VERY GOOD, they are quite small (comparable with the ER-6) but they make an excellent seal, WAY better then the CX300's or the Sony EX71. About 50% more noise-reduction compared to the CX300. It sits comfortly in the ear, the Sleeves have a lot of grip and are a bit thicker then the CX300's sleeves.

So in a small conclusion the good and the bad things about the aurvana's.

Good
Small
Good isolation
Smooth and detailed Mid's
Enough bass for most music (more then the Etymotic ER-6 and the Shure E3c)
Nice Carry Case

Bad
Rolled off high's
2D soundstage with classical music

Alternatives in the sam price class for the Zen: Aurvana's are the Etymotic ER-6(i), this little bugger has loads of mid and high clarity but lacks in quantity of bass. Others are the V-Moda Vibes and the UE Super.Fi 3. These two also come with some flaws, the Vibes lack isolation and the S.F 3 has a lack of bass. But for Dance and Trance music i pretty much like the Aurvana's most.
