Bought my first set of Grado’s from HEADPHILE and I went whole hog!
Hello,
I just bought my first set of Grado’s from HEADPHILE and I went whole hog!
Grado Elite — Wide tops, deep version with multiple layers of Ebony and Bloodwood with matching end tips, splitter, CJC on the 2.0 meter BlackGold to Neutrik 1/4" plug, with domed stealth screens. Rare Joe Grado red lettered headband with black rod locks, new flat pads (and bowls). Drivers current Grado, 325i tweaked by HEADPHILE.
I already own a pair of Bolivian Rosewood V3 Darths and a pair of AKGK701’s.
What can I expect from these phones?
They were way too beautiful to pass up!
My wallet feels really light right now.

Congrats
Congratulations on the purchase. The look awesome.
I was actually looking at these and thinking seriously of purchasing them. Let us know how they sound. I am very curious how they sound compared to stock 325i's.

Break-in
A little side note on break-in.
This is a note from Larry.
With both new drivers and cable on these Elite's, overnight (or longer) break-in is suggested highly before anything more than casual listening. Enjoy :-)

They look very interesting. But the 325i drivers... curious choice, so I'd have to hear that for myself.

The woodwork seems exceptional, as do most projects from Larry. I'd only say that I'm not the biggest fan of the red lettering; but that's just a nitpick.

325i drivers... nice choice. How do they sound?

Congratulations! It's really a beauty!
I've been watching that deal for a while but it was way too expensive for me. Let us know how it sounds.
Did you happen to get the box as well?

Nice shiny craftsmanship, but I think that they're astonishingly ugly, and I wouldn't want to listen to anything based on an sr-325i driver personally. Hope that they're good for your ears though.

I just see the OP's smiling face dissapear after Duggeh's comment, haha, nice going. Anyway, what can you expect? Audio heaven- but just a little less comfortable haha. Nah I have woodied 325i's myself, and you just have to listen to some Paul Simon (shining like a national guitar) and some Dire Straits (sailing to Philadelphia), and the world around you will dissapear, and you will become one with the music.... hmm.. yeah thats about right.
