Default Before I purchase my headphones...

Just want some opinions.

Im planning on getting Audio Technica's ATH-a700's
they will come to about $150 canadian after shipping over ebay

I am looking for quality phones for about $150 that are closed preferably.
Are these the best? (probably not haha)

Im into electronic music (D&B, psytrance, house) and metal mainly. I will be using them for movies and gaming as well.

So many choices when it comes to this stuff. Im really overwhelmed with info right now..

help me?

EDIT: How do these stack up against the bose around ear headphones?

THey are very nice headphones, you should be pleased with them. They'll crush Bose...they are not known for their fidelity, mostly just their marketing (Bose, that is).

Thats insane haha. I tried them and thought they were great but I have never listened to audiophile's choice.

When people talk about these phones they say too much bass or what not.. but I mean the bose sounded niiice so Im assuming 'too much bass/recessed mids' is just relative to other excellent cans and not as noticeable as it sounds?

Maybe not TOO much bass, just muddy, indistinct, ill defined bass would be more accurate. Once you end up in the audiophile realms, it's hard to listen to Bose, lol...

I would recommend you look at some Equation RP-21's...amazing for electronic music. The only problem is that they aren't strong for gaming...but for the price of those A700 you could get a set of RP-21's for music and some koss SB40's for gaming.

Speaking of Bass..the best bass is always tightest. a loose spread-out bass is an indication of poor Bass response.

Why i am saying this is because i have noticed some headphones have a very 'ambient' kind of bass which just gives u that heavy feel in the music. that is not a good bass because it will overshadow the beats.
