Beautiful Stanton Dynaphase Sixty headphones!!
The UPS guy just dropped these off:
They are sweet looking! The most bling bling headphones I have ever seen! And they are HUUUGE and HEAVY!

They are a dual driver design. They do not sound as bad as most of the paper fart cans from the 70s-80s but they don't sound great... not bad but not great. Inoffensive at best.
They are dirty, I am working on cleaning them up.

You're being too kind about the sound. I used to work in a stereo shop in the 70's. We sold these and HD414s. If somebody would ask we would always recommend the 414s, but we would have to suppress our giggles if someone kept the Stantons on for more than a few seconds. If they actually bought a pair we would start laughing our a***s off once they left the store. Stanton had a deal back then: f you wanted to sell their very popular (and profitable) cartridge line, you had to take the headphones too.

i just got some of these off ebay. needed some clean up. the sound is decent! very decent when amped and eq'd. the best 'vintage' can i have heard. easily better than the koss pro4aa. heavy as hell tho.
sounds great with heavy beat/hip hop. not so great with rock

spent some time w/these gaming. very nice tho heavy and not snug. so u cant move your head fast or they might fall.
huge, and i mean huge sound. you can feed these monsters any amount of bass and they can take it. easily out bassed the dt770pro and dj1 i/ve had.
a fun buy if u can find them

Dual drivers... sounds intriguing... how does that work? One for bass, one for treble?
Do you plan to take them apart and post some pictures of the insides?

well, regardless of the sound, they at least look comfortable (no idea if they really are, I know some vintage stuff can look good, and be torture)
interesting to say the least
ourfpshero: can you take some more pics?

Stanton had another dual driver headphone for the more refined ( Looks anyway) it was a black oval with two turbine looking grills on each cup. I just missed a pair on ebay a couple of weeks ago. I thought it would be cool just to have them.
I'd post pics but I'm at work and the firewall won't let me go to my eBay.

it is a speaker....
all headphone drivers are speakers
I'm interested in that crossover, and what the second driver looks like, these wouldn't happen to be coaxial would they?
