Interesting... wonder if those aftermarket cable guys will still want to do dual entry on the recable.

Whoa, the K702 looks swank! But too bad about the cable, looks like it won't be able to be re-cabled to dual-entry & balanced.

Well either that or it would require a lot of additional work making it potentially impractical.

hmm... i personally think it doesnt look as good as the white ones.
for those who want dual entry... cant you just get a pair of K702, and then get service parts for the "left ear" and replace that with the right ear? (it'll look weird, but hey, it works).
and pads... did it change?

looks nice. makes me wonder though, is this as good a solution as hard wiring a new cable to the driver? because even if you get an aftermarket cable and attach it, you still have the stock cable going to the driver, and for the left channel, the wire is probably about a foot long...

I am almost sure that AKG did this to protect their K701 model, cable I mean. They know pretty well that a lot of K701 been recabled to improve the sound, so this new model are for studio only, however...

Looks good, will probably get it. Wish they don't use the top bar to transfer signal and have plug on each side.... Still detachable cable is good thing.

It says that the K400 was relesed in 1991. Im curious if the K400/500/701/2 series started when harman bought out AKG, because that seems like it was a real departure in their house sound signature. Before these models, they had models like the K340 and K240, which are both rich, natural, neutral (not words i would use to describe the K400 etc series)
