Fitz, when you say the system is running smoother does that mean it would be possible for me to order some parts now and get it within 4 months? I want to get some K240DF parts but I'll only be at this dorm until school ends...
You have a much better chance now than you would've a few months ago. If for whatever reason they were backordered for that long though, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to just call in and have the order updated with a new address.
I haven't placed the order yet but thanks for the info. Despite taking 2 months, buying K701 pads from Frank wasn't a bad experience at all; he was eager to help me out all the way.
Well, the pads on my pair look nice but they are flat and soggy. The plastic grills are dry humping my ears. I learned to hate that feeling with the K340, thank you very much ... I'll have to switch up the pads and check back.
I tried the K271 velour pads from my K340 even though it was pretty clear they weren't the right fit for the Sextett. I don't think the sound was right either.
I decided to try a different approach, namely Audio-Technica W100 pads. The fit is nearly perfect - I had no more trouble getting them on than with the W100 or W2002. Since I don't quite have a sense for ideal Sextett sound, I can't really comment in detail on any changes there except to say that nothing obvious sticks out yet. I can say that comfort is improved over both the K271 and soggy K240 pads.
If the pads are worn out / damaged it may have a broken seal on that side, so for the hell of it try swapping the pads and see if it still sounds that way. Otherwise there is the possibility that it's a driver problem or a puncture in one of the passive radiators.
Today I put pads from K240S on the sextett and it still sounded the same. I guess it's a driver/passive radiator problem.
I've searched but I'm coming up empty. How do I remove the little access panels to get to where the lower part of the elastics are attached? I want to avoid snapping something important.
