I just came across your post, I haven't read the whole thread but I thought I should let you know. I find that
SM LE doesn't really have a good synergy with my sensaphonics nor ES2. It's losing texture, dynamic, transparency, details making my ES2/Sensa 2X-s to be less involving. Perhaps you may want to look into the hornet or Supermacro IV(Not LE)? I personally haven't tried hornet with my sensaphonics since I have been spending too much time on my UE11. I wish I could sell my 2X-S

Great news by the way. My T2 will arrive even faster than expected... Andy just wrote me than my monitors are already in production and will be ready probably later this week.

Please report back on Tomahawk w/ T2. I've been thinking of that combo for awhile, but surely not before a pair of Lambda Sigs I've always been a portable amp skeptic. Having owned the Hornet and Hornet M before, I've learned that one is paying a huge premium for a sometimes inaudible improvements. I've also tried the Supermacro-III w/ the E500 and there were very small differences, if any. My experience with the SM LE has also been less than inspiring. Sure, there was a difference, but my goodness, how can anyone be convinced to drop a few hundred bucks on something that only maybe makes a difference? YMMV... heh.

I wish you order UE10/11 down the road. I really would like to hear your comments between UE10 and ACS. I am hoping that ACS to have a better sound quality than UE10 since I really miss the soft silicone type which I find very comfortable.

The soft silicone is indeed one of the reasons I went for the ACS over the UE10Pro. It is very comfortable and completely non-irritating. I've accidentally left them on over night and I take them off the next morning with my ears feeling completely refreshed. Sound-wise, I don't know. Different IEM, different tastes?

Milkpowder

My experience with portable amps stated that portable amps make a bigger difference for Universal IEMs, not really in a custom IEM.

The pairs below I find to make a big difference in sound:
- Etymotic with Supermacro
- UM2(UM56) with SR71
- UE11 with Hornet!
I assume Triple.Fi will suit Hornet very well, but haven't had a chance to do a proper listening.
Unfortunately, matching is utterly important. I wish IEM manufacturers would make a list of their preferred portable amps.

By the way, Hornet didn't do any good to your T2? I'm just curious.

Hornet/E500 was good, but I sold my Hornet before I got the T2.

Welcome back,

well what can I say, the eagle has landed, and I am just listening my new T2 While it's yet too early to write a review, or do some A-B comparisions... because I need to get used to putting on customs quickly first, I think I can write few first impressions.

milkpowder, having read your great review again I can say, that your impressions are very similar to mine. Comparing to E500/UM56 indeed there's less bas in terms just as you describe, wonderfull midrange and great highs.

The amount of treble details is just amazing. Yet again, when switching IEMs I managed to listen my favourite tracks again and catch some things I haven't heard before -> especially some high details. This also shines in classical tracks (try to get and listen vivaldi by guliano carmignola & venice baroque orchestra). Its just excellent. If you don't believe E500 have treble rolloff, go listen T2 for a while and then switch to E500 again. You will know
then.

Midrange, well you made it all perfectly clear, no need to reinvent the wheel here.

Bass, you also got the point well. I think however, when you write about the warmth/clarity, it's not the warmth of the bass that makes things this way, its rather the lower midrange, that sometimes hides bits off bass notes in some recordings... when there is a lot of things going on low-midrange,some subtle bass notes might get hidden a bit... not dissapear, but a bit in the shadow so you'd have to concentrate to hear them.

Coming from E500 you indeed have expectations when it comes to bass. In 80-90% of the tracks those expectations are fullfilled for me, in those 10% what I would like to hear is more "punch" from bass, so I could sort of feel-it, rather just hear it - even perfect one... ABBA -Gimme, Gimme, Gimme or tracks on Yello - Baby album. E500 sometimes gives you that but of punch, for the price of lacking in the mid/high section.

Now when it comes for soundstage, separation and clarity (how easy you can follow particular instrument in the track), there is an interesting observation in my opinion. Comparing E500+UM56 and T2. E500/UM have wider soundstage than the T2, but their clarity is worse. T2 soundstage is a bit tighter than E500/UM, but not much, the clarity is however much better than E500/UM. I am thinking of something like achieving instrument separation
by soundstage, and by clarity. In T2 you can follow some instruments better in a tighter mix of music. In E500/UM you can follow the instrument because of their positions in space.

Soft silicone is very comfortable, forget I have them in my ears, also the cable is very good. And the case
seems to be a bulletproof, very well done

Great service by ACS by the way, it took them 7 working days to ship T2 back to me (13-22.08) and I got a nice discount, total expenses: 425 GBP for T2 and 40 for all shipping (impressions to UK and T2 back to Poland).

That's all I can think of now, now let me play with them for a while and I will do some Tomahawks comparisions.

Questions ?
