Is this a post based upon your avatar? I live in LA, and have for a long time. I don't recall any news stories about such an event. Searching the LA Times archives back to 1881 also does not turn up anything.
How about some references, otherwise this sounds like something that happened in schoolboy dreams.
Besides, everyone knows "The Valley" ain't that bad.

Sequoia Junior High School, Reseda. 1965-66 It actually happened after I moved to Canoga Park and went to Hughes. The guy was a real dick. I'll see if I can look it up myself.
Where I went to high school, in Red Bluff, Calif, there were guys bigger than many normal men. They took a real dislike for the vice principle and gave him a blanket party one night. I saw him the next day with both eyes blackened and bruised. We all knew who did it, they guys would smack girls around if they didn't give them what they wanted, but couldn't prove it. It didn't make the news but was real. A death is much more serious but I have seen "news" events overlooked and this doesn't mean it didn't happen.

I agree. The 6 months preceding the release of the Shure E500's there was a HUGE amount of hype surrounding the E500's. There were comparisons being made to the UE-10 Pro, the most expensive custom IEM on the market, which in hindsight to me was "spin". The E500 simply didn't live up to the hype.
I can't believe anyone is saying they prefer the E4 to the E500! Unfathomable to me, but I guess we all do have different ears It did have a lot of hype that it didn't live up to, but I've seen few products in my (relatively short) lifetime that actually have. I think they were worth the wait.

I agree, but at least with this product it isn't "out there" being touted as a UE-10 killer. The only hype seems to be our faith that Westone will deliver a great sounding IEM.
