after getting my e5c rig violently robbed (sig), i feel that the westone 3 may now be in my (probably distant) future. as soon as i save up the money (and pay the bills, get the gf's b-day present, sort out loans...) or maybe westone would like to send me a pair for "evaluation" or "review"....

sorry to hear that you were attacked and robbed. hopefully you are okay. this kind of thing is why myself and others have, throughout this thread, requested that these new iems be subtle and subdued in appearance. who wants to be wearing an invitation to bodily harm (lord knows that hanging around this forum can cause major harm to one's wallet!).
I wanted to take time to properly respond as I was pressed for time earlier today when I posted previously.
According to Doug at Westone the release will happen in March. What the actual date is still not known or yet to be released. Westone has stated that once released there will be enough for all pre-orders. The moment we know more we surly let everybody here know as well.

I understand your perspective, but I disagree. I'd rather have the IEM look hot at the (low) risk of being robbed. Maybe it's superficial, maybe it's irrational, but what is rational about spending hundreds of dollars on this junk in the first place? For god's sake, you're talking about a high-end consumer product and making it bland on purpose.
When I buy a Porsche, I'm not just buying it for the driving experience. I'm buying it because it doesn't look like a station wagon. Dulling down a product on purpose makes absolutely no sense, from the perspective of capitalism and from the perspective of Westone.

This discussion all depends on where you live. My guess is Dex doesn't live in NYC. I grew up in "The Valley" of LA and at my junior high school the boys vice principal was beat to death by the students. There are places is this world were it is not wise to show off.
I vote for clear. I would also like to see 3 Customs.
