I was hoping an initial group buy would be in the 325 range too
p.s., I'm a two planker too. Tried snowboarding and kept catching the edge...felt like someone grabbed you by the ankles and slammed you into the side of the mountain like a rag doll...we only have hardpack in the NH area so it hurt
Hmm. Wow. $399 is steep. I was debating UM2 vs. E500 for awhile until news of the Westone 3 emerged--which made me want to wait. Was hoping these would be more like $300-$350.
That will complicate my purchase. Will I be willing to spend almost twice as much for the new Westone 3 when used UM2s and E500s sell for about half of $399? That's a tough call as as of yet I haven't heard any of these.
True, but your comparing Used with New.. not a fair comparrison. I just bought New E500s for 325.00 so 399.00 (retail/new) would seem pretty competetive to me.

that's what i am not liking about the price , the E500 with a PTH device go for 325$ new online ,seeing that Westone's products seem to sell for their msrp usually, 399$ can turn out to be more expensive by a pretty large sum. that's why i was hoping it'd be closer to 350$ msrp and than the Head-Fi discount

I have seen the Um2's on the FS forums for $190-$230, now tell me where you can get a pair of E500's for $200 used? More like $275 and up for used.

Seeing that the E500 is list at $499 and you are finding them below that ($325) should tell you one thing.. If the price has fallen THAT much in the first few months, what will be be worth in a year ?
The UM2 lists at $299 and still selling used at $200-230.. what does that tell you ?
Question about "head noise" while walking w/ IEMs.
I currently own a UE Superfi 5 Pro and I use the smallest silicone tips. I get a fair amount of "head noise" while walking, ie. it coincides w/ each step, and isn't microphonics due to the cable, because I've tested it where I hold the cable perfectly still.
Does anyone know if the Comply tips for Westone (or any tips they have that UE doesn't have) help alleviate this? I do a lot of walking w/ my IEMs and this head noise is one of the last annoyances I'd like to get rid of (or minimize).
I don't like the foam tips that UE provides because my ear canals are on the small side, and they don't feel right. However the comply tips, with their bullet shape, look like they'll be better for me in the long run. I'm hoping they quiet down the head noise.
Thanks!

The UM2 lists at $299 (yeah I know they are going for about $269-279) and still selling used at $200-230.. what does that tell you ?
it's not that the price fell i think it's more that Shure exaggerates with their MSRP and there's a lot of stores selling them for less, for example the E4C too has a msrp of 299$ but sell for like 170$ , the UE super.fi5 msrp at 249$ and selling at 165$ (sony's LCD tv's can sell for thousands of dollars below MSRP online too for example ). Westone's product are rare in comparison(they don't sell here locally at all for example) so the street price stays closer to MSRP
Please, no head-fi introductory discount. I do not want to spend any more on a universal this year!
Bite yer tongue, man! A head-fi discount would be fantastico (and maybe embossed cases reading "Audio Geek Extraordinaire"? )
