I just don't want anything that looks too flashy. I would prefer some shade of either black, gray or silver. I wouldn't mind metallic as long it doesn't go overboard. The majority of people that buy phones that are this expensive don't want something with that screams to be looked at. Flashy colors don't say "quality" to me. I won't buy the phones if they are blue, red or any other attention grabbing color. Thanks for taking the customers' opinions into consideration. I think this is a great approach. -CK
For those going to listen to the Westone 3 + Powderhound's iPod @ NAMM, can you please post your thoughts on the level of hiss?
I have UE SF5Pros and while they sound good, during quieter passages (and between songs, or when no song is playing but the iPod is powered on) I can hear quite a bit of hiss. I have a 5G iPod.
I know Powderhound says it has less than previous Westone models and I believe him, but if anyone who is familiar w/ UE Super fi series and the hiss they get w/ iPods, if they can compare how the level of hiss is w/ the Westone 3 that would be appreciated!
I'll throw in anothe vote for the clear option on the casing. I actually think the clear is nice and simple, and looks pretty cool since you can see what's inside.
I don't know why some think that clear casings look like hearing aids, because most of the ones I've seen are flesh coloured. With clear, most people don't even notice I'm wearing anything, it just doesn't stand out. Though when they talk to me, and I can't hear them, they think I should be wearing hearing aids. :allteeth:
Hey Doug, thanks for letting us check out the 3 yesterday. It certainly is a great sounding product, and I'd have to have a long and hard comparison with the Shure E500 to figure out which one I prefer (I like both more than the UE Triple-fi). Just to publicly restate a bit of what we discussed, I though the highlights of the 3 were the amount of texture and detail in the bass, without losing an impactful and dynamic presentation; and the midrange which was ever-so-slightly upfront, making for an engaging listen. I look forward to the eventual release of the 3 to see how it does. My preference for color would probably be gunmetal.
Also, Doug, I think you do a great job representing Westone, and you were a real pleasure to meet and converse with. Westone should be proud to have you as part of their team.
