Not that Sennheiser needs to resort to such tactics in order to develop great products.
to answer the last few questions-- you can exchange any headphones from any brand...even if they are broken. we've seen all sorts come in, lots of sony, lots of apple. we don't use them for anything as we have all the technology we need in germany/singapore/ireland. we have a 3rd party handle the disposal of the spares.
