I do apologize if I did not respond to your card my friend. I did recieve many cards & phone calls from a lot of friends including e-mails. They were all appreciated so was yours, but I did not know that I had to answer these cards specially when your family's structure has been shaken from it's foundation by the sudden death. We had to take care of many important matters specially I being the oldest son.
Yes the SR-71A can swing much higher voltages with no problem thus satisfying the most demanding headphones at the most demanding passages.

Ray, is SR71a a significant step up from SR71 in term of sonic quality?

The SR-71A is more refined, better bottom end.
Still baring the original SR-71 sound signature.

I am sad to say that the custom knobs were not done by 3:00PM by the anodizer, here in Chicago, so they will be done tomorrow. One thing good is that we did not waste the time as we have "40" SR-71A prepared, DONE, all we have to do is install the volume knob & out of the door they go. My wife has prepared all the fed-ex shipping papers & boxes. So We are looking good for tomorrow's dead line shipping of the first batch. I was really hoping to post some pictures today but it looks like it will be tomorrow. Sorry, for delaying the photos. I really don't want to post pictures of the new SR-71A with out the knob.
Cheers.

thx for the heads-up Ray.
One more day to see her and just a few more to hear her sing. As they say, you have to wait for the good things in life...
Seriously though, thanks for another awesome transaction. It was great talking to you.

No doubt. 2x 9V batteries is plenty of voltage.
You're bringing some SR-71A's to the Oct 18th SoCal Meet, right? You know I'll be trying them with my K1000's, even if they aren't meant to power them.
