Two words: "Can Jam"
Similiar to how Sennhieser took advantage of CES to pre-announce the HD800's way prior to production even being finalized.
I've squawked before about companies announcing things before they are actually in (or even near) production, but I always get beaten down. I guess the public really wants this sort of treatment *shrug*.

Aaron and Jimmy I concur with what you are saying, but if the vendors relied on waiting for the product to be ready they would loose the hype build up. Personally I am getting a bit disappointed w/ this approach and perhaps we should only place an order when the product is on a rack available.

Okay guys, I think that I am going to weigh in. From what I can tell, Grado's are pretty much hand made. We are purchasing a custom limited run hand made can.
It may be the closest thing that any of us will ever come to having a can made just for us. With this comes the expectation (at least mine) that these are made on demand. Not 10,000 pre-made on a shelf only to have 5,000 sold and then the balance given away at bargain basement prices and devaluing my full price purchase. (I have seen this happen on limited edition fountain pens over and over, my other hobby)
Ferrari owners often wait years to get their low volume- high prestige car. I am willing to wait for my low volume high prestige cans...... well at least a few months.

...and on those lines, what about the PS1000's which are not custom limited run made just for us?
I understand a little promo period, maybe a month, but not 1/2 a year like with the 800's and the 1000's (which I personally believe is due to production problems and not a hype build-up period).

Just checked: I got my order confirmation at 8:20AM on May 15, 2009. I'm wondering if that was soon enough to make the first batch.
There was a delay with the HD-800? Why, I got a pair just three days after I placed the order.

I called first on that day before the thread, I shouldn't have because he said would have to charge immediately, and I had $399. I should have just done it and I would have been in the 1st batch he told me as much, but I aired on the side of caution, never again, id rather overdraft than have to wait longer...

Actually, that just betters my point! Part of the hype, was that there were only going to be 60 available in the first year in the United States. So, by being able to purchase them now, with instant delivery, shows that we were conned into a frenzy even more!
I feel so used
Not happy with Sennheiser's tactics at all.

You folks have got me worried now. My confirmation was 5/15/09 @ 12:35PM. According to the thread posts I was easily in the first 50. Now..................Not sure of where I stand.

No, that's "used and abused". This time it's just "used"
