Todd, after/during CanJam, will you be saying how many HF-2 will be made? Or will it remain a secret till the sells finish?

There's no way to know and there is no secret. When the sales start to slip the production will cease. Only then will we know the number.

Will the production of HF-2's decrease the value of the limited amount of HF-1's?

Hard to say. More HF-# phones could increase the supply (for folks just looking for a HF-# (any #) phone, and potentially decrease the price they'd be willing to pay for one. On the other hand, now that there's an HF-2, there could be a premium on having a complete set, which could drive up the price of HF-1 phones for the folks buying HF-2 who now might be very motivated to add an HF-1 and who might not have previously been looking to buy an HF-1. The release of a limited number of HF-2's can have market effects in both directions on the perceived value and selling price of an HF-1 for different buyers, depending on their interest. I'm going to take a guess that the HF-2, in raising the visibility and interest in the HF phones in general (as well as in getting some "collect the set" interest going), will increase the selling price of the HF-1's in existence. Such a guess is a purely academic exercize for me, though, because I have no HF-1, the value over which to be concerned.

It may also be based on the date, since I am sure ttvj and grado set a time where they will eventually stop selling.

The HF2 made MY HF1 go up in value, because it raises how much I'd have to get for the set to be willing to sell.

Interesting, valid points.
I tend think that whenever any product becomes part of a "product line", meaning newer models are released concurrently, it increases the worth of the "first" or "original" model, even if the later models are of higher quality.

The priced of used gear is heavily dependent on supply vs. demand. Demand for used HF-1s has got to decline because of the HF-2.

And the final hours of the HF-2 unveiling countdown ...
Two and a half hours to go until CanJam 09 officially opens in LA at 10 AM (Pacific Time) and the HF-2 is unveiled. I hope that we get some pics and initial listening impressions posted pretty soon after that.

you might be able to trade your hf2 with someone who has the hf2 with the serial number you're looking for...that would be quite a pair to have same serial no. hf1/hf2! why did i sell my hf1 again? oh, yeah, something about a k1000
