I know where it is! (I have it) I don't know where it's going next.
I'm sure Todd will be notifying the next lucky recipient soon.
Thanks for the heads-up. Someone will be home tomorrow to sign for the package. I've heard great things about this player; I can't believe it will arrive tomorrow.
I feel so fortunate to be able to listen to it before the So Cal meet. Many thanks go out to Todd and Justin.

LOL, from SoCal to NorCal back to SoCal.
Enjoy, 909. Be sure to post impressions.
BTW, if you see a thread hanging on the back, it's there to secure the Optical port cover from being lost again.

Believe it! Should be there by 3...I'd tell you exactly where it is right now, but I left the tracking # at home.
Anyway, definite thanks to Todd for the opportunity, and I'm glad the G08 is making its way to a meet so even more people get to hear it.

Sorry to keep you waiting!
To me, the best words to describe the G08 are "exquisitely detailed". Not the artificial detail that comes from boosted high-end extension, and not "gee whiz, I never heard the cowbell on that song before..." kind of detail. Rather, subtle nuances of instrumental timbre come to life on the G08...music just sounds more real.
The G08 is clearly a better sounding source component than any that I own, and some nights it gave me highly insightful listening experiences. The improvements it brings don't hit you over the head, they require effort and close attention to hear. On the nights that I wasn't up for it, the G08 didn't really sound any different than any other reasonably well-designed digital source. I don't think this is a failing on the part of the G08 at all, but more of a characteristic of ultra-high-end gear in general.
As for the Cardas Golden Reference cables, about the nicest thing I can say about them is that they must not be a very good match for my system. I listened to my own cables for the first week before putting in the Cardas, and when I did the bass instantly became muddy, bloated, and indistinct. I couldn't stand it so two and a half songs later I pulled them out and they spent the rest of their visit in the box. YMMV.
