Ray Brown and Laurindo Almeida, Moonlight Serenade.

I bought this awhile back from Todd when I was supposed to be doing my shopping for the Holiday Gift Exchange (and Todd did send Zanth part of his gift so I wasn't completely selfish!). I finally listened last night and I am listening again today. Wow, is this record amazing! Todd says he uses it as a demo piece because it has great bass. What an understatement! This recording is incredible in many ways, but the BASS is beyond belief.

Ray Brown on bass and Laurindo Almeida on guitar created something special with this session for JET Records, and the HEAR (HighEnd Analogue Remastering) disc from Germany lovingly recreates the moment. Plus, you get to read the HEAR story in German and a mostly-English translation. Maybe my favorite translation is this one:

"Which means recordings which had not on the quiet been digitally purged of extraneous noises."

OK, I'm not sure what they meant to convey there but it is fun to read! Log onto TTVJ and buy this thing, NOW!
