Default AKG K-501s

I'm looking for a pair of AKG 501s (new, with the "new" pads!) to go with my iPod , PIMETA and PortaCorda (soon..). What is your Head-Fi price on these 'phones?

HI mls64,

The AKG K501 price is listed on my website and click for a quote to see the price. I am not allowed to publish it so I cannot give you a quote here. You can call me or PM me for the pricing...

The official word from AKG is that there is no difference in the pads on the K501. No changes have been made.

Todd,
I know this is a old Thread, but I am looking for a amp or a DAC/Amp that would be powerful enough to drive K501. I have RSA Tomahawk and Predator, but Ray confirmed with me that they are not enough to drive K501. Do you have any suggestion? My budget is around $500. hopefully within $500.

The Heed amp is reported to drive the 340's pretty well.. Better then expected, so It would be enough to power the 501's.. Cost around 400..

FYI, Ray listens to insanely loud volumes. I have owned the Tomahawk and since I listen to very low volumes it was fine.

However for most the Hornet M, TTVJ Millet, or the SR-71 would be better. Good luck.

At that price wouldn't it be better to go with a desktop amp, such as the CKK3?
