Nice! About time there's a semi-local event I can attend.
If school/work don't get in the way, and I'll try not to let either, count me in for sure!
I can bring my Alessandro MS-1s, if anyone is interested of course.

I just put this date into the calendar! Barring any unforseen circumstances, me and the Mrs. will be there. Definitely looking forward to meeting up with everyone. This will be the first meet we've attended.

"Danny, what is deal on tables and power, etc. if someone wants to bring their whole rig, source, amp(s), can(s)?"
We will have several extension cords for powerstrips. However, it is always a good idea to bring your own extension cord along with a power strip or two.
No problem in bringing your whole rig. In fact, that is preferred as we may be a little short on sources. We will have plenty of tables at no charge.
We will be asking for donations from attendees and dealers and manufacturers to help offset the expenses. Donations are voluntary not mandatory.

Joseph Grado Presentation at CanFEST 2009
Joe is planning to give his lecture at 1PM at Southern CanFest 2009 on 2/21/09. He will discuss his new revolutionary microphone in addition to the importance of how headphones impact the recording/playback process. How and why he came up with many of the headphone designs he created will be touched upon. A live recording demonstration will also be done by Joe.
Additionally, he will briefly discuss the concepts of sound recording and playback as he understands it, which is novel in its approach, to capture recorded sound closer to the source than has previously been done. Joe stongly feels the recording industry is at the brink of a breakthrough in sound reproduction quality that will elevate it to a level not previously experienced. You will be able to hear samples of this at his presentation and decide for yourself.
After about a 45 minute presentation we will have a question and answer period in addition to letting attendees listen to his test recordings through his Nagra digital recorder and HP1 headphones, or your own cans if you prefer. The Q & A is wide open so anything can be discussed including historical questions about Grado Labs, his headphones, phono cartridges...well anything you would like to know about Joe Grado and his amazing life.
Sound engineers, record producers, recording artists and others will greatly benefit from Joe's ideas and demonstration and are invited. Several world famous engineers are currently beginning to use his new microphone. The future of recording, according to our good friend Joe, is here and he will enjoy showing anyone all about it if they care to join us.
There is no charge for attending.

DannyB this is shaping up to be a GREAT meet. Might there be stuff there for sale? Should folks bring their economic stimulus check proceeds to help the economy?

Hey, what happens at CanFEST STAYS at CanFEST!
Lots of stuff should be available for sale. We are also having a Buy Sell Trade area where people can bring anything audio related, not just CAN related, to dicker and deal with: this includes equipment, cables, software such as LPs, CDs, etc.
I also anticipate some of the dealers and manufacturers to have items available at some deep discounts. So, bring lots of money and have lots of fun. Don't worry, we won't tell any significant others how much anything costs. My wife still thinks my STAX 02 is only $89.99.
