Directions

From New York City via train:

Take the Metro North from Grand Central Terminal or Harlem 125th Street Station.

Trains leave from GCT approximately every half hour
Schedule subject to change prior to meet date

mta.info | Metro-North Railroad

Departs________________Arrives
10:10AM_______________10:51AM
10:37AM_______________11:18AM
11:10AM_______________11:51AM
11:37AM_______________12:18PM
12:10PM_______________12:51PM
12:37PM_______________1:18PM
1:10PM________________1:51PM
1:37PM________________2:18PM
2:10PM________________2:51PM

Trains leaving from 125th Street leave approximately 10 minutes after the Grand Central Terminal departure time.

Return trains returning to GCT leave at 23 and 50 minute after the hour.

I will be available to pick people up from the train station if prior arrangements are made.

Walking Directions from Harrison Train Station

Depending on weather the walk from the train station to the meet is fairly easy. The train tracks run parallel to Halstead Avenue. Upon exiting the train you should be facing a parking lot and beyond that Halstead Ave. It is a main street so it should be pretty obvious which way to go. Turn right on Halstead Avenue. Keep walking for .7 miles. The Knights of Columbus will be on your left at the corner of Halstead Avenue and West Street. Turn left on West Street as the entrance to the hall is on West Street.

From New York City via car

Triboro Bridge to the Bruckner Expressway (I-278) East to I-95 North.

Take Exit 19, Playland Parkway bear right.

Take first right (about 100 yards from end of exit ramp)

At stop sign, turn right.

At traffic light turn left onto Theodore Fremd/Halstead Ave.

Stay on Halstead Avenue for about 12 blocks/2 miles.

The building will be on your left at the traffic light, at the corner of Halstead Avenue and West Street. Right before the building you will see Harrison Beverage Center. Pick up a six pack of premium American craft beer or high quality import. Parking is available next to the building right after the beverage center. There is also street parking on West Street on the same side of the street as the venue. If you turn left onto West Street from Halstead Ave. you will need to turn around to be on the side of the street with parking. You can turn around by going through the Food City supermarket parking lot. There is a gas station across the street on the right hand side and there is a used car lot on the other side of West Street.

From Connecticut and points north

After crossing over the border into NY, Take 95 south to exit 19. Follow directions above.

If you Google directions and you are coming from NY City they will be correct but they will instruct you to exit at an earlier exit. It is shorter in terms of miles, but I believe the directions above are easier.

Ground Rules

*Donations are appreciated but not mandatory. Any money collected will first go towards paying for the meet with anything left over being donated to Head-Fi.

*Bringing gear is not mandatory (except that somebody has to bring gear or it will be a pretty boring meet).

*When handling other people's gear use the utmost caution and treat it as if it were your own (or better). Do not swap out amps, sources, or cables without first asking permission from the owner.

*Food and beverage should not be consumed in the general proximity of any equipment. As usual, food and beverages must be kept away from equipment and hungry Head-Fiers.

*Good hygiene is appreciated by your fellow attendees. Be clean, look clean, smell clean. No cologne. Make sure to clean your ears.

*Meet is open to anyone who is a registered member of Head-Fi. The space is fairly large so we should not have to place limits on attendance based on previous year's turnout. However, if the interest is very high we may have to limit attendance if it gets to be over 50. In general, first come, first served, so sign up early.

Local Phine Quizzine

There are several delis in the area for sandwiches and the like. There is a very casual burger joint and an a nicer Italian restuarant across the street.

For an after meet dinner I suggest the Mamaroneck Diner, about 5 minutes away by car. Something for everyone.

Mamaroneck Diner & Pizza

If you want something besides a diner, let me know what type of food you're looking for. I'll make some suggestions or if we can get a headcount ahead of time will go so far as to make a reservation. Choices are limited if we stay within walking distance but within a few miles you can find everything from pizza to steakhouses with just about everything in between.

ATMs

The closest bank is Chase near the train station at the corner of Halstead Ave and Harrison Ave. There is probably an ATM in the super market or the pharmacy next door but I do not know that for a fact. I will investigate if anyone needs to know. You'll want to plan ahead in terms of having cash on hand for donations or silent auction items.

(Not So) Silent Auction

Anyone can contribute an item to the silent auction. It need not be expensive but it should be something that someone might actually want. A decent CD or working cable would be good. Proceeds from the silent auction, like donations, will go to cover meet expenses, with anything left over going to Head-Fi.

Post in this thread to be included in the attendee list and with any other questions you may have.

Hi erikzen and everyone,

I'll be there!

Gear:

- Isabellina HPA:
Products > Isabellina HPA - Red Wine Audio
(feedback and pics: red wine audio isabellina hpa

- Senn HD800s (stock and ALO Audio HD800 cable for all to compare). I'm sure I can get Ken at ALO to let me borrow more headphones, cables, and other gear - so please let me know if you have any requests and I'll ask Ken...

- Wadia iTransport - directly fed from the Isabellina HPA's battery power supply

- I'll also bring my Laptop and feed the HPA via USB

- NEW! Next month we'll be in production of our Black Lightning SLA battery power supplies. This has not been officially announced, but we'll be posting info about this soon enough. We can make them to output quite a few different DC voltages (e.g. 5V, 9V, 12V, 18V, 24V, +/- 12V, and we have a bigger version that can output 36V, 48V, +/- 24V) - so if you have any products that take DC input (via a "wall wort"), we can instead let you hear it ran off-the-grid on SLA power. Please email me if you have any voltage requests for your product, and the required plug you need to connect to your product.

I usually auction off an iMod service ($250 value), but after the auction if we are still a little short in funds, I'll be happy to kick in some more.

erikzen,

Thank you for setting this up and I'll really looking forward to it!

Best regards,

Vinnie

I won't know if I can come until the date approaches because of school stuff.
But, here's hoping that I am free!

Take exit 19 in NY!!! I took exit 19, off 95 south, but it was in CT. Yup, that wasn't the right town, much less the right state.

I'm certainly hoping to make it - that's a busy week so it might be tough but NYC meets don't happen every day... If I do make it the gear list is decidedly up in the air and at the mercy of my soldering iron.

I noted in the directions that it's exit 19 after crossing the border into NY.

Hope you can make it, Drew!

I'll be there. Afraid I don't have much to contribute in terms of cool gear. I'll bring my selection of mid-fi stuff (SR-60i, RE-2, Fiio E5, 5.5 & 6G iPods & cheap LOD) in case there are other newbies present who want to try 'em out in pre-purchase mode....

I'll be there.
Don't really have anything good to bring, though. I'll see what I can muster up. Perhaps my Onkyo Metal Oxide cassette player.
