I have such a phobia for bloedprikken. The first time they messed up. It hurt and I fainted afterwards. Well, there you have it; scarred for life.
The 18th would be baaaad. That's right in the week I have my tests. The other Saturdays are the 3d, the 10th, the 24th and the 31st. The third will be perfect to me but it might be too soon for Contrastique concerning her bf. As for location I don't think my parents will be all that thrilled to have that much strangers here + our house ain't big enough. Oh yeah, I'll make sure I bring something nice for the host.
Do we agree that the pre-party is in January?
I'm fine with that as long as it isn't from the 15th/21st. The beginning of February is just as okay I guess.
What date would I (and you ) like to see?
January 3
January 24
January 31
February ~

I would definitely be up to join a meet. The only date of those listed I could not make would be Jan 3rd.
My gear is in my signature. Hopefully I should also have and Apogee Duet by then.

Hans, my condolences as well.

Was directed to you Ton, since I'm Rik and I said it.
You're right though -- these Tannoys will stay for quite a while! They really are quite amazing. And larger ones... don't tempt me.

As to where to keep the party; my place is fine although it's not exactly at a central position (and listening to Rik's speakers would become fairly impossible hinthint )but I surely wouldn't mind as long as the stuff works out fine here.
|
The 18th is fine with me. Like I said, I can also play host (and I have about twice as much room now compared to the last time I hosted). Anything is fine with me, I don't mind a drive for something as cool as a Head-Fi meet.
My speaker rig... too bad I don't have the JLows anymore as I was rather proud of them, but something better is doing the speaker job now.
If we do the meet at my place, I can set up the speaker rig in a larger room (which btw is seperated from the house... no problems with volume ) than last time for the people who'd like to enjoy that when they get bored from the headphones.
To be clear, for me any date in January will work EXCEPT the 3rd. I'll be somewhere in a plane so I don't think I can make it.

I like it. It can work with most anything (optical, USB, and coax). I'm running it from the optical out of my Macbook Pro and it sounds good. Noticeably more detailed with better separation than the same files out of the Ipod.
I use it much more now that I have the iQube. The micro amp is nice, but not as good for my ears/equipment. The DAC (and amp) is a battery hog though. It is an older version (early 06) with two 9V batteries and only has 110v AC supply so I'm constantly switching out and charging batteries. That is why I want the Duet (and I have some Amazon gift money to burn) for the convenience and from everything I've read it is a great source.

January sounds fine to me. I'll start a poll when I get back from shopping tonight as to which dates are okay with you all. We then might get a little insight in the possible options.
Anouk, if the meet is held at Rik's or somewhere a little bit further away from Limburg and if you want, I can pick you up at wherever you live so you can ride with us
Here it is:

Hello, Thanks Indra for the offer! I will certainly think about it. Of course I would be willing to share fuel costs, on the other hand, its good for my independance to ride by train, I dont do that often enough as it is, but it would certainly be practical.
Thanks again, now I am going to view the poll.
Where do you live, Rik?
Greetings, Anouk,

You are more than welcome Figure out what you want and let me know when you do. I can understand that for your independance it's a good lesson, whatever you choose is fine by me

That would be Sergei, also known as Blackmore. He's not sure yet if he can make it so we'll just have to wait (and cross fingers coz it would be nice meeting him again )

Hello Indra,
No I dont think Blackmore owns the zana deux anymore, he sold it, but I am sure there was someone else in this thread who did, I will go search for it.

Ladys, unfortunately I am not a happy owner of Zana anymore, cos she were my financial back up for Yoshino Ear HP4.

Just wondering if there are any Dutch DIY-ers who are planning to join the coming meet.
There must be more Dutch audio/electronics engineers around in our “kikkerlandje”, but where are you guys/gales?
From what I have seen from (and read about) the previous meet, it looked more like a “commercial gear” meet only
(at least, I haven’t seen any serious DIY work).
I would love to join the meet, however I feel a bit like “een vreemde eend in de bijt”.
Thanks for pointing me into this thread, Anouk!
