My budget is €250+ish. Too bad I have some costs atm (my scooter is bust ) otherwise I'd get either the DacMagic or the Keces DA-131.1.

Hello, there is of course either the meier 3move or the ibasso d3 (both amp+dac but they are portable) the ibasso dac can be used as a standalone dac through usb, so in this mode it does not need battery power, but then you wont have the amp. In the near future there will be a dac onlyv ersion of the pico, but I suppose that would be above your budget.
Greetings, Anouk,

I have sold most of my headphone gear. The only things that are left are not that portable: source: pc with water cooling; big heavy subwoofer and speakers, Stello dac (quite big also).
The (upgraded) Red Wine Audio is portable and the portable rig is also portable (signature). I don't know if I will be able to come.

Good to see such a discussion already. Looks like there's plenty of interest in a meet.
I can't promise to bring any headphones (I may get another K1000 sometime soonish but not that likely), but I can bring a CD player (Vincent CD-S6) and analog source (Denon DP-60L with DL-103). If there's a K1000 or something electrostatic with a transformer box, I can also bring a preamp (AVM V3) and single ended 805 tubeamp (which is currently out of commission since the damn thing blew a tube yesterday ).

Hey, I wonder if anyone's got a rudi amp>? I have read some things about them and they seem to sound very special...

Depends on the date if I can make it though.

No problem
And about the flight... my workmates (from NL) quite often drive over to Duesseldorf because of the cheaper (depending on your destination) tickets.

Was it? But only 5 hours or so were through my headphone rig
I got two laptops that I only use to play music, one for the speaker rig with (currently) the M-Audio Audiophile and the other one with the Echo Indigo DJ for the headphone rig.
Could bring a third laptop as a source as I am most probably buying a USB DAC before the meet.

It was anywhere between 11-12 hours, yes.
I like last.fm. I think it's fun to see what others are listening to, for how long etc. For instance, I always put one artist (or a whole album) in my playlist but you must have foobar on shuffle as you listen to a lot of different artists in 20 mins. You also listen to a wide variety of music which I like, though I think I don't know 80% of your music. Same as me. In my top 10 there is Johnny Cash but also Biggie.
EDIT: What USB DAC are you thinking about getting?

Depends on my mood Usually I listen through a whole album, OTOH I also like samplers like cafe del mar etc.
Yesterday I received the HD 650 and thats how I ended up playing all sorts of music
Btw. thanks for the "reminder" for using last.fm, I signed up years ago but never used it, then I saw your post here about it and made sure I use it on both laptops It helps me a lot to find new music and makes life a lot easier around that!
It is true, I listen to a quite wide variety of music, but around 80% it is something I can relax to. Saying I can relax listening to it... as my gf sometimes says she is getting nervous by some of the songs I like...
I just saw the second DacMagic sale and think about picking this up (seems you got an eye on this unit as well ). I tried to get hold of the first one that popped up in the FS forum, made a good (very good offer) as I added a few extra bucks (as the unit is more expensive here in germany) but Ben never replied to me or anyone else after the first contact.
Other than that I am looking at the Keces (the one with USB support). I surely need one with USB support or a USB only DAC and because of the value looking for a DIY DAC or one of the chinese DACs.
BTW. I sent an email to Meier Audio asking if we are going to see a DAC from him anytime soon, but seems he is currently not considering developing a DAC.

Hey everyone, This is an ot question but since there are a few last.fm users here. I REALLY like the idea of last.fm but I am blind (no joke) and the last.fm software is not very accessible with my screenreader software. But I think there used to be third party plugins for certain players, I mainly use foobar but I also have winamp and windows media player. Do those plugins still work, or can you only use their proprietary software?
Thanks,
Greetings, Anouk,

It would be so nice if you'd come to the meet with a DacMagic or Keces. I hear so many different stories about DACs that I really want to try one. The DacMagic supposedly sounds really good but no one really loves the unit or so it seems. Then the Keces owners are really happy with it but some people says the Keces is nothing more than an abundant Alien DAC. And oh, bring your HD650s as well.
Anouk. I'm not sure on what software you're referring to. The so called scrobbler from last.fm works perfectly fine with foobar but actually using last.fm must be pretty hard if you're blind. I don't know your screenreader software because fortunately I'm not blind. You know what? It must be hard surfing the web, looking for software. I'll see what I can dig up.

Hi Anouk, here is the plugin for foobar2000 (inlcuding the installer) : http://www.anytag.de/download/foo_au...ler-1.3.16.exe
Only thing left to do is restart foobar2000 and add your last.fm username/password under File -> preferences -> Tools -> Audioscrobbler

I searched a little and it seems the code used by last.fm doesn't work that well with screenreading software. Seems to be an issue still. Here is a link that happens to be a group at last.fm. I'm sure they can help you much better than I can. It's called SpeakOn and there is some software as well.

Hello Thanks a lot for your help everyone. I did some reading on wikipedia and it idneed seems I do not need the official lastfm client since you can use an online player to play their internet streams and you can (hopefully) still use independent plugins instead. Now to locate my username and password which i forgot.. Guess I better reregister. Thanks for the group link, I will check that out once I get into last.fm
Thanks!
