Snack patrol is fully staffed now, thanks for the volunteers.
There is covered drive-up entrance to the clubhouse, so in case of rain we should still be ok for loading and unloading. But it would be nice of it were sunny so we have a nice view of the lake through the wall of picture windows.

Thank you, but most of the credit goes to Jack at Woo Audio. I just sent Jack an email inquiring about the possibility of a demo unit, and he was all over it with three outstanding amps and a door prize. Jack is a great guy to work with, very responsive and flexible. He has answered every one of my many followup emails within 24 hours or less, and he has gone out of his way to make sure we get to hear his amps.

Current Head-Fi threat level is orange. Intelligence indicates a high risk of money being spent, but a specific target has not yet been identified.

After looking at the So-Cal meet thread, I think I should go back to calling this a mini-meet!

Bah! I'll take the concentration of stuff we'll have, especially on the 'stat side... though I love me some he90 and would LOVE to hear the ES-2. We will not be at all far behind.
GES has landed, so the GES / (uber ultra) KGSS / (xf2) Blue Hawaii shootout will be some fun. Now, we all need to pray for the Bijou for the shootout with the b22.

Wow, that turntable is a beauty! Is that a 12" platter? If so, the base is huge.

It is a standard 12" platter. I wanted lots of mass in the plinth.

We are coming down the home stretch, and our meet is only a few days away!! A couple of last minute points to make:
First of all, please read this post by boomana about meet etiquette. It is full of good ideas, especially for those of us attending our first meet. The most important theme in this thread is to respect everyone else's gear as if it were your own. Don't take anything for granted, and be courteous. We don't have the same hectic environment as a Canjam, but we still want to be sure that nothing is damaged or misplaced.
Don't forget that a small piece of masking tape with your initials on your cable or other common item might make it easier to find later. There will be gear moving around the room, and people will loan cables etc. to each other. We want everything to go home with its owner. Please be sure to take your CD's with you when you leave a table, and don't borrow anyone else's music without their permission and knowledge.
I plan to have the door prize drawing at around mid-day, as soon as everyone has gotten set up and comfortable. You need not be present at the time of the drawing to win; everyone that has paid admission will have their name in for each prize. A few people have donated prizes so, instead of their name in for their own prize, those people will get an extra chance at the prize of their choice. We are limiting this to one prize per customer. If you win twice, you can choose the one you want and we will draw again for the other. Also, trading prizes later is completely allowed.
There is a nice pub at the Town Center in Sugar Land if anyone wants to go over there with me after the meet for dinner and drinks, especially those people from out of town who are staying the night.
Don't forget to bring your own power strips etc. We can't have too many of those. Also, a card table or two would still come in really handy. We have plenty of chairs. The snack patrol is fully covered, but it's ok to bring some candy or something else small. This is not lunch, but if you desire a sandwich there are some fast food places a few minutes away. Please be very cautious with drinks and food around the gear. If someone is making you nervous with their food or drink at your table, please feel free to tell them to move it away.
There is no wi-fi in this facility. I plan to bring my laptop with a wireless card so we can at least post some comments during the meet. Please bring your camera and take pics. I will start a "meet impressions" thread in a few days so we can make comments and post our pics there instead of here.
And finally, I can't resist this... WOOHOO!!!! The Woo amps are shipping today!

I'd like to suggest another precaution... Since we're going to have 4 different bias electrostat headphones (Koss, Sennheiser, He, Stax) and at least one adjustable bias amplifier, I'd like it if people asked myself before swapping electrostat headphones between amps, or at minimum my KGSS...
also, as usual, DIY gear is used at your own risk (both bodily and gear).

Excellent point! Complete novices, such as myself, have no business operating electrostatic gear (or any DIY gear) without proper instruction. Also, it goes without saying that we should not be playing with someone's turntable without their permission and supervision.

Same goes for the turntable. It's a very delicate piece of gear, and I know many of you have never really used one.
I'll be more than happy to school anyone on vinyl, but please make sure myself or luvdunhill are there to oversee it's usage.
Dinner sounds great! Count me in.

Well as the fun weekend approaches ...
It seems the pot simply insists on becoming more sweet:
This just arrived at my door today from China, courtesy of "Mouse," the lead designer for MHDT Labs:
...
...
...
This is their top end DAC. It's the more expensive, OPAMPLESS version of the Paradisea+.
It's brand new so I'll be burning it in every day this week.
But since we're going to have such a strong Paradisea+ presence at the meeet, I'll most likely be leaving my Paradisea home and will just be bringing the Havana.
Very excited to hear this DAC!
I had no idea he was even sending it for demo.
I emailed him about a week ago but never heard anything back.
Just a knock on the door this morning and a rather pleasant surprise.
Anyway ...
Just a heads up.
Best.

Wow, I had not expected this to come through, given that Mouse had not responded to your relentless emails. Awesome!!
Too bad I am spending all my cash on an amp... guess you'll have to buy this one to go with your 6385 tube.

I'm stoked for sure.
I'll be posting some listening impressions in the Paradisea+ thread in a bit ...
A very quick listen before going to work ... already indicates some immediate differences when compared to the Paradisea ...
More "air" around the instruments ... a little "quicker" if that makes any sense.
More later.
