Ive recently noticed that although everything else sound much better with my varioius portable amps, there is something about the midrange that sounds better straight out of my ipod classic!
It sounds like it is a bit glossy and far away, unclear, or foggy. In fact, it might be throughout the whole spectrum, but most noticable in the mids. It is so noticable that I have taken to listening to my headpones straight out of the ipod, which is just rediculous for 600 ohm cans...
Since I have some pretty nice amps, i am thinking it must be the LOD I am using. any thoughts? has anyone else noticed this with the Sik Ram Din?
The line out is just a connector. It won't color the sound. Perhaps your amp isn't putting out a flat response. Does it have any equalization settings or tone controls? Do you have EQ turned on in the iPod?
no I checked all that. All normal. I think it is the sik ram din. I tried using a "belkin" cable from the headphone out into the xin, and it seemed to sound better. I'll have to get a new LOD and see if that fixes it. I just wanted to know if anyone else had experienced this with the sik ram din, because I feel like I've only heard good things...but i'll post back here
Perhaps your dock is defective. But I seriously doubt it. I think your comparison techniques might be the problem. Balanced line levels and a short length of time between sound samples (two or three seconds at most) are critical. If I had to venture a guess, I would bet that your headphone output is a hair louder than you are listening to the line out.
