Question Surge/Power Protection

I am waiting for my new Samsung 46" LCD and Bluray DVD to be delivered and I need "protection"

I am thinking of getting a Monster HTS 5100 MkII for $375 plus S&H at: Lexvon Electronics

Any other recomendation under $500? Thanks.

I recommend this Mrarroyo, if your going to use it for mostly home theater.
Amazon.com: APC AV H15 Home Theater 1500VA Power Filter and Power Conditioner: Automotive

I trust APC stuff way more than I trust Monster stuff when it comes to power It also has Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) that the Monster units don't have.

PS Audio Quintet. I don't know if the internal wires in the other ones mentioned above can be trusted, or the quality of the non-detachable power cord, for audiophile application (if it is a criterion at all).

Yes, PS Audio is great, and you should look into Furman's HT power conditioners as well...excellent surge protection, isolation, and conditioning.

Avoid Monster products, any of the above suggestions are much better ideas. I love APC units, great build quality and just business. None of that "audiophile" crap that jacks up the cost.

Agreed.

I used to have a fairly expensive Monster PLC, but I found that the OneAC unit I picked up at Goodwill sounded better, even in its stock form.

So I replaced the stock outlets and put in an IEC jack. $5 for the unit, and about another $25 in parts. Sounds even better now!
